Pantera 28 performance ???
What numbers are you seeing with your setup and how does it handle im thinking about a re rig
cheers gerry |
99 with 502 mags and 28 Bravo's that did 76mph
88 with 643 hp 555s and speed Master IIIs with 17.5 x 29s that has done 82 mph so far |
How did it handle with those setups any porpoise issues ?
|
What do you have?
|
The 99 did fine, the 88 with the speed Master and transmissions is very Stern heavy. You have to drive it and use tabs. It has a bow tank that last time out I filled with water and it rode lot better.

How much water does your bow tank hold Big boat my 28 has a 40 gallon ballast tank placed infront of the second bulkhead under the deck and filled from exhaust water. it’s night and day difference running with it filled in rough water. Settles down any flightiness when running at 75/80 in that kind of water. |

I thought mine was 60 per Pepe.
|
I have only filled it once and tried it and it did run a lot better, without it you need lots of tab.

Thanks for that information Mickey I thought it would be somewhere around that amount , are you single or twin motor . mine is a single speedmaster so its alittle more heavy then a tradional bravo boat. The tank was not installed from the factory. I added it when I purchased the boat. Mine is also alittle on the heavier side for a single weighing in at 6200 lbs. |

Notched transom should add a little speed. The 28 is a great boat for it's size in rough water, but definitely no speed demon.
*edit - my boat was very poorly setup when I picked it up a few months ago; its been a process getting it sorted but were getting there slowly. The trouble I'm having now is dealing with lack of bow lift / blow out with the notched transom. Not debating or arguing - just trying to better educate myself! |
The notch allows the drive to be mounted higher which supposedly equals more MPH.
|
Any pics of your boat?

If it’s a 2/3 I’ll put about 1/2 in it (very non scientific measuring system, takes about 60 seconds to fill at 25lbs of water pressure so leave it open for 30 seconds close valve and go) then I have a switch to dump it. |
