ISO Outboard Pantera's

Ive been keeping a eye out for a OB pantera. I know a few twin Ob boats were made late 90s early 2000s. Anyone considering letting one go?

What about buying the blank 28SR that's for sale in the other thread and rigging it like this one.

What speed does that boat run?

That was not a stepped hull and If I recall Jo said mid 70's. I think that boat went to South Africa.

Theyre very, very rare.

When I was at the factory 10 or so yrs ago, they were restoring a 28' very similar to that one.
As recall, it was going to the Bahamas or Caribbean.

Only one Ive seen in person.

i would consider them all rare since barely any boats would get built.

Which is why I will probably end up keeping mine.

The price of the SR is way out of my price range. I dont like the new 4 stork OBs either. So finding one with Opti, 2.4/2.5 engines is where im at. Because you cant buy any of the engines new anymore to make it a easy setup.

Yep. Ive talked to the owners son. That owner actually owned 3 28s with Obs. He sold them all and wishes he didnt. The current owner wont even sell it back.... Which is the same story as my F1.

The new 4 stroke O/Bs are nice, technology wise, but Id still go for a pair of XS's.

Im building a pair of carbureted OMC V-6's that should make close to 300 HP's per and only weigh 450 lbs each.
Thats a 100 lbs lighter than the lightest 300 HP 4-stroke.
Times two motors on my 25' Checkmate, thats a 200 lb+ weight savings on a small, narrow, light boat.

They're not great on gas but........, I can build/maintain them myself (as anyone could) and Ill have $5K in the pair compared to $55K for a pair of new ones.

I can see the market for clean, older 2 strokes growing accordingly.

You can get a Merc re-man'd full dressed, drop on XS powerhead for $8500ish.
Buy a popped but clean one for a couple grand and you're off to the races.
And keep the popped p.head for spares.
