Checking out 28 this week. Advice
I'm going to check out a 28 twin bigblock boat. I was really looking for a single but just figured I'd throw this out there and ask if anyone can tell me any weak spots on them it's a 1998 should I be concerned about stringers, or transom. Seem like really solid boats and I love the way they look. Just don't wanna impulse buy and overlook potential problem areas.

There is one in Ohio that might be for sale. Lol
|
There are really no consistent problem areas on them that I know of.
Post which boat and somebody probably knows it or it has been discussed here in the past. |
Where is this one in Ohio for sale??

Ha anyone looked at the 28 in Texas that's been on boat trader for a while?? I can confidently tell you I wasted 3 days of my life And over 1000$ driving down there to see it. I had to buy an adjustable hotch for almost 300$ because Dean doesnt have a truck so I had to launch the boat so I could seatrial. The port engine wouldnt turn over. Both hull sides are delaminating. The entire cockpit interior is ruined with mold. The trailer brakes do not work and it has some flat tires. I wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole. Let me find the craigslist ad I wrote up. |

Ouch, what a bummer. That boat has been in TX for a while. Was for sale back in 2007 with new bravo drives. Guy that used to post here bought it and must of sold it a year or two ago, but I doubt it was in that kind of shape we he sold it. Sounds like it just sat outside for a year or two. I doubt the current owner paid more than $20K for it.
Honestly, don't spend $25K on a twin engine 28 Pantera unless you plan on spending at least another $25K to get it in good shape. I've done that before with a similar boat and it was the worst financial decision I've ever made. If your budget is $25K then do yourself a favor and at least limit yourself to a 24-27ft boat with a single engine that runs and is balanced well. |
There's one in Maryland for sale.

454s he didn't know much about them. Had intakes and headers on them one motor seems like no spark. Wont fire. Didn't get into it. It's on a pretty busted alum trailer. Has bravo 1s he's asking 25. Seemed pretty solid to me I'm no master at inspecting hulls though.
