41 Molds

Just seen on FB that the 41ft molds have been bought and are in MI now. New owner is looking into doing a different deck. that would be a totally flat deck design.

I saw they sold, wondered where they went. Where are the 36' molds?

bigboat28 10-17-2019 09:02 PM

Who is the new owner?

jeff32 10-17-2019 09:08 PM

How much did it sell for?

Unfortunately the only chance that 41 has of being built again is if it were picked up by an established boat builder. With today’s power options to power a 41’ costing hundreds of thousands who is gonna buy a boat that at a minimum would have to be $350k from a no name boat builder with a small chance of survival? Now if one of the big boys picked up the molds and modernized them then yes. But most of the big boys already have their lineup and don’t wanna revamp an old design. With cad and CNC design technology they can build a mold way more precise. But I’ll tell you who would be a good candidate to build this boat, Tuff marine in Canada. He has done an amazing job of modernizing his lineup and making boats super fast.

out of curiosity, was the 41 ever dialed in? I seem to remember reading that it didn't handle well?? Did they ever build any of them?

I have to agree with that. I can't see anyone laying down that kind of coin with an unknown builder.

Word on the streets is that a quality builder will be doing the layup.

Can you even pop a hull from molds that old? Weren't they sitting outside?

BUP 01-04-2020 10:54 PM

If they build a boat it will prob one and done. Saber boats in which is a known builder, if I stand correct, Saber still has the 2 boats they built in the past 6 years, No one is buying that many I/O sport boats and doubtful an old name / molds that have been sitting idle for years will be revamped with any amount of sale volumes especially an I/O boat. I hate that its that way but it what it is.

I believe 2 41's were built. I think one is over seas and poor shape and the other was a race boat that was possibly damaged.
Do a search for Panache and you'll see some more info.
