Battle cry sent this info and pics but no price as of yet. Battlecry if you see this..what is the asking price.??

"The Pantera is a '96 with a single 500 plus HorsePower engine with Stelling Headers and a Bravo drive on an extension box. It also has Zero Effort controls and Gaffrig Gauges. Interior, as judged by the photographs is in very good condition and has a carpeted cockpit floor. The cabin is a half cabin and is set up similar to a poker run boat. This boat is Very nice and
loves the rough water."

What an awesome boat! Thats an ominous paint job. Would blend right into the everglades...Perhaps a DEA Pursuit boat? Good luck bad guys!!

This 28 footer was going to be a race boat for me originally and was laid up with the Vinylester resin and top materials at the time. The deck has a full pleasure cockpit.

I sold the hull and deck to Bill Dahl from Performance Marine in Peoria, Illinois who did the rigging and installation. The graphics were sprayed by a local painter that owns a 24 Pantera in Peoria, Illinois that got the design idea from me.

If you look in my website you will a 2001 28 with a single 500 efi that was featured in Powerboat Magazine with a similar style design done by us.

From what I have been told this 28 runs in the 78 MPH range in fresh water with a 575-600 HP big block.

The cockpit interior was finished in flourescent green.

Bill Dahl from Performance Marine, is he not the one that sold Too Old his Pantera a while back?? If he is still in possession of the boat I would contact Too Old prior to buying.

I have Freds 28 that Bill had. Although the boat itself is 100% Pantera, Bills rigging is not up to Pantera standards.

Some things on my boat:
Instruments not mounted like Pantera
Steering wheel off center...to the right a bit
Sloppy wiring
Hook (or is it rocker?) in the hull from being stored on the blocks so long.
Engine mounting. The engines sit high. I put in 502MPI's. JO said they'd fit fine without a raised hatch. They didn't:mad: We thought the X was high, but I measured and it's at 16. I either have to cut holes in the hatch or have a raised one made.

The price should reflect that the rigging is not 100% Pantera.

BattleCry 01-22-2003 03:25 PM

I sense a little bit of BUYERS REMORSE. All problems with Thirsty Turtles boat should have been realized at the time of purchase.

I WILL BE THE ONE HANDLING THIS 28 PANTERA!

Look this boat over. Drive it! Survey it! Whatever you want to do until your heart's content. I will stand behind it!

Thank-You

No buyers remorse Battle Cry. I LOVE THIS BOAT! Some items were noted at purchase, others became apparent after seat time.

I'm saying that the quality of Panteras rigging is worth something. If it's done by someone else, the purchase price should reflect that.

very nice looking 28 love the paint, shure would like to run next to one of these singles to see plaining time to top end verses twinBBC Love those lines

BattleCry 01-23-2003 11:53 PM

The asking price is $48,300 and I encourage offers. Like said before, check this boat out. I am very motivated. If more detailed pictures are desired of any part of the boat, please let me know. I will answer any questions you have.

Thank-You

How many Panteras did Performance marine do? I'm glad Jo no longer sells bare hulls. I hate to see someone butcher his increadable work.

JO - PANTERABOATS 02-06-2003 01:57 PM

Hey Guys,

There was (6 or 7) 24 and 28 hull and decks sold to Bill Dahl in Peoria in the early to mid 90s.The majority were 24s and the two 28s are owned by members of this forum.Gary M also owned a 24 Sport purchased from Bill and now owns a 2003 24 Sport with a single 250 Yamaha outboard purchased from me this past year.

regards,

JO:) :)

Wow, thanks for the heads up. So if someone was to give you a VIN you would be able to tell if it you rigged the boat or not???

BattleCry 02-07-2003 03:51 PM

Well, Fred, if everything was so bad then you(who claim to know how to buy a used boat) should be happy to tell all of us why you bought that boat. Because if my memory serves me correctly you got the better end of the deal. You were also more than taken care of.

Thirsty Turtle 02-07-2003 06:55 PM

In the end, it's still a solid, well built, Pantera hull. No one should be scared of buying a Bill Dahl rigged Pantera. Everything is 100% functional, it's just a lack of attention to detail, and the gauge placement really bugs me:D

Now Battle Cry, quit getting your underwear in a bundle:D I don't think we are ripping on the boat you have for sale......just relaying the experience of another Bill Dahl rigged 28. Sorry if it puts yours in a bad light.

Hell, it may be rigged tighter than a knats ass. It certainly is a good looking boat. Put that bad boy in the classifieds for more visibility and make someone a killer deal!:D

Bruce

BattleCry 02-08-2003 01:48 AM

I am ready to make someone a killer deal. NOW!

Fred, I do have a SMALL problem with your buyers remorse and the fact that you feel that you were misstreated. The way I saw it was that he bent over backwards to make sure that you were satisfied. I was under the assumption that you looked and tested it before you bought it. I do remember you and one or two others flying in to look at the boat then purchase it. But ofcoarse you are always right.
