Subwoofer Location on 28' ??

Ok. Looking for the best place to put a subwoofer in the 28'?

Pics would be helpful.

Thanks

I'm looking for that too. I found a pre-made sealed box that will fit under the seat with a 10" sub facing up. Also wondered about putting it in the cabin....in the compartment that looks like where a porti-potti would go.

An 8" Bazooka Bass Tube would fit under the seat also without losing alot of room.

Yea ... I'm leaning towards having it placed in the cabin somewhere. Just not sure where yet.

I had a car stereo guy build the box to fit between the middle rear seat posts. It will hold two 10in woofers. He waterproofed the box with resin and put carpet around it. I have the speakers facing toward the back. Sounds great.

Denny,

Sounds interesting..do you have any pics.??

Thanks

Angel, Sorry I do not have any pictures. All you see is the grey carpet on the back of the box. It blends with the floor. It fits perfect and does not extend beyond the seat. In fact it sit two to three inches behind the front of the rear seat. I have seen another Pantera where the subs were cut out in the left and right sides under the seats. You have all the space under the rear seat that way.

Mine are under the rear seat, cut into the gunnels on either side. Sounds pretty good, but I'd go with the Box like Denny is talking about if you think you really need more bass reverb.
Tunes? My twin 502 Mags make the real music...

When's that boat going in the water Angel??? You know I'm ready when you are.

Ran the boat around Biscayne Bay last Friday afternoon/evening. Water was a perfect 1-2 chop. We ran an easy 70, with the trim in and dragging a little tab. It was like riding on glass. I had a lot more to go, but the girlfriend was getting a little upset, to say the least.. 4000 rpm is the real music.. I was aiming for 5k, but the screams were holding me back..

Tim,

Glad to hear your up and running again.!!!

Yea I'll probably go with the subs under the rear bench.

True ...there is no better music than the lumpty..lump during idle.
BUT I also like hearing some tunes when anchored or cruising.

Pepe says it should be about 2 more weeks and we should be ready.

Sounds like you gave your girlfriend a good scare..hehehe

I'll let you know as soon as I'm ready to make a day of it in the bay.

Decided to build a box like Denny's and put the sub under the seat. Bought a 10" sub that needs a ported box of 0.9 cu.ft.

It's a wedge shaped box using 5/8" High Density Particle Board.

Here's the outside dimensions:

Height= 11.5
Width= 15
Top Depth= 12.5
Bottom Depth=15

Actual volume is 1.1 cu. ft. but when you take into account some bracing and the cone volume it works out to the 0.9.

It will fire towards the rear. It'll be resin coated and either painted or carpeted.

Does paint stick to the resin?? Maybe just a good polyurethane paint?

I'll let ya'll know how it turns out!

Can't wait to see it TT...and hear it.:)

What did you get for a Sub?

Caincando1 03-10-2003 09:52 AM

TT,
Screw the wood. Lay that baby up otta glass. That will be trick.

Thirsty Turtle 03-10-2003 10:35 PM

Fiberglass would be trick, maybe that can be a future project. People are doing it.....and seeing as I know squat about laying fiberglass, it would make a good first project.

In the 50's this weekend!

:)
