Hey Pantera Guys!!

I am just doin some research on all of the boats I really would consider owning. I currently have an insanely fast 21' Baja and really need to step up to something safer. I really like the speed of my Baja and my first thought was to get a cat hull. In doing my research insurance may be a problem with a cat so I am checking out some v's. Here is the big question. How much HP to get a 24' Pantera into the upper 90's or even 100 MPH? I have heard of Pantera's rep of being tough and able to handle rough water, but what about driveability at extreme speeds? I mainly boat on inland lakes, but would like something to take out on Lake Mich from time to time. Thanks for your replies!!!:p

On fresh water about 400hp is 70mph 500hp 80mph so I would predict 600 about 90mph and probably 725+ to see 100GPS. Jo can give exact numbers but Mine are fairly conservative. Steering and setup is everything on this hull or any narrow deep V to keep your sanity. 3 footers at 80 is no problem sometimes 4's if they are spaced right. I think your solid roller motor from the Baja would easily push to mid 90's in the Pantera 24. It is a boat that will not break in rough water and will outlast several engines. Good Luck The Ironman.

Wette -

I recently upgraded from a nice, fast 1998 Baja Hammer 70+, to a 1999 24 Pantera Sport with a 650HP Super charged engine.

The boat is awesome, I'm currently playing with props, but use to run a 29P Mirage and it would hit 91 - 93 MPH under control. The 3 blade just blows out too much for me so I'm playing with 4 blades. I still hit 86+ right now with a 28P Mach Prop.

You'll be happy with a Pantera . . . I am!!!

Jo has a sweet 24 with about 40 hours on the 496ho for sale at his shop. The boat has some cool sit down bolsters.
Give him a call.

Panteras sound pretty sweet!

Thanks for the replies. I am really only doing research right now and so I am not really ready to buy. I will keep my Baja the remainder of this summer and I will drop the stocker back in and sell it. Then hopefully I will know exactly what I want. Pantera is definately a boat I would like to see and drive. :D I know one thing I will not buy a boat unless I go for a ride with my radar gun!!!!:p How much do the 24's weigh and is the bottom a straight vee?

Straight 24 deg V with a small delta pad . Weight about 3800. check the Panteraboats.com site for specs.
