USCG capacity/weight plate
Does anyone have a Capacity Plate on their Panteras? I don't see one and I'm planning on going on Lake Michigan next week, the DNR is checking all offshore boats. But I don't have a plate and was wondering if the factory didn't put it in or the previous owner removed mine.

They don't have them and they are not required. They ar eonly required on certain types of boats and boats below a certain # of feet. My 24 Outlaw did not have one either.

I think '21 is th cutoff for capacity plates. My 24 Superboat does not have one either.

Good, as long as it keeps the DNR off my case!!

Griff was real close, 20 Ft is the limit, also boats over 24 have to have a discharge plate
Capacity Plate Boat builders must comply with Federal law by putting a Capacity Plate in sight of the helm (steering area) on motorized boats less than 20 feet in length. This plate displays three important items: the maximum weight of persons on board in pounds, the maximum carrying weight of the vessel in pounds and the maximum horsepower recommended for the boat. The Federal Water Pollution Control Act prohibits the discharge of oil or hazardous substances which may be harmful into U.S. navigable water. Vessels 26 feet in length and over must display a placard at least 5 by 8 inches, made of durable material, fixed in a conspicuous place in the machinery spaces, or at the bilge pump control station, stating the following. OVer 26 feet: Boats 26 feet in length and over must display a Save Our Seas Placard which outlines the rules of dumping waste offshore. These placards may be purchased from local marinas, boat dealers, and marine equipment suppliers. I had to add the last two to my Pantera |
