Imco lower on a single 28?
At what point does the 28 benefit from a more streamlined lower like the imco? Is it the same 80mph threshold the single cats use?
I "found" some real gains in my Daytona 2 yrs ago when I went to a 2" shorty (spaced back down a 1/2") and bumped from a 28 to a 30" B1 prop. Eliminator told me that the x was already agressive on my boat. Jerry May (There setup man) later told me that there would be benefits but i may lose some steering due to less skeg in the water etc. (went from a best of 88.3 to 99.0 on GPS- had real pristine conditions when I cranked off the 99.0, May temps and good wind chop- maybe 1.5') My current set-up is awesome in the cat. Seeing as it's not yet sold, I'm in a position to do a little testing on my 28- wish I had some more spacers. Has anyone messed with this much? Jo told me he feels pretty good about the x on this boat- raised an inch I think to work with the ITS. When I drove the boat it felt like it had a bit of slip in the 40-50 range and connected more past 50. that could be just me though as I'm used to the cat which typically has less slip due to efficient hull etc.. Any thoughts? |
Why not, if you have the lower and the only thing it cost you is time, experiment. I don't think you'll see the improvement you saw with the eliminator but now is a good time to try, keep us posted and good luck!
