Yes, it's at Ducky's.
I was going to keep it anonomus to be objective. Apparently boat was idling at the dock in neutral and owners kid slipped while boarding carrying a cooler. Somehow the throttle was pushed wide open and the motor over-revved and blew the head gasket. It was toward the end of last season so the owner traded the boat on a new 38 Fountain with 575 Sci's.

Ducky's pulled the heads and intake off and then the boat sat outside over the winter under a tarp. During this time the cylinder bores rusted pretty badly. The bottom end clearly needs to be overbored and rebuilt.

So, what do you think it's worth?

I'd guess around $70,000 with a 500hp including trailer. I ran with the previous owner and that's exactly what happened to it. If you want some picture of it when it was new including interior and motor pics let me know. If I had my choice buy the 2004 27' Fountain that he has for $72,000

Ducky's isn't shady. You have to know the boat. Beware of current prices and ask about previous owners. A boat like the Pantera everyone in the area has seen it. Also I've seen Dealers who took a trade, never paid off the loan and then never sent the title for the new boat. leaving a loan for two boats. Neither of which you own.

A 27 Fountain could never keep up with the Pantera in big water.

2001 Pantera with a blown motor incl. Trailer. offer them 55k. But why would you need a short block for a blown head gasket??? Dont the 500 hps have rev limiters???

That motor had more than a blown head gasket and your are correct a 27' Fountain will never run with a 28' Pantera. However, it really depends on where you are going to go boating.

Yes, I've known the boat since day one. I saw it before the original owner took delivery (at Ducky's) and always loved it. Ducky's people seem nice enough, and they always have a great selection of offshore stuff for this area. It's real convienient because they are only a couple miles from home.

I offered $60K for the Pantera last fall, then again a month ago and they turned it down both times. Maybe I'll give it another shot after the first snow storm and see what happens :). They are asking $75K as is or $89K w/ a brand new 500EFI but w/o the Whipplecharger. It is a sweet boat for sure....

Im surprised they were willing to sit on it for over a year. By the time they do sell it, it will be worth 5k less and in worse shape. Someone should make a deal on this thing. I hate to see a good boat go to waste. Are there any pics of this boat???

For $90k you can custom build a 2004 with a 525 efi brand new...Run away from this deal because you have been more than generous with these people. Call Jo and work a deal with him. You will have a brand new boat for about the same price...

That asking price of 89k with a new 500EFI is nuts. Von Bongo's asking price for his 2003 with a 575SC, XR w/ITS, and about 40 hrs, not to mention the awesome paint job and Myco tailer was 93k.

You could have Pantera build your own 2004 for very close to 89k with a 500EFI.

I'm pretty sure that your boat came from Duck's. That was a awesome price for that boat too.

Duckys is shady! I bought a new boat from them and had all sorts of issues that they caused and I never got relief on. They are nice people. They smiled the whole time. Check with Jo and Pepe. As I recall they are no longer doing business with Duckys. Wonder why? I know.

Actually I believe that they are not selling to dealers.

Yes, I bought it from OSO member Hot Duck. I believe he bought it from Ducky's about 2 years before I bought it from him.

Dock Rat, The guy with the 39' Velocity used to own the 24' HTM. I think that he bought his boat from All Pro Marine.
