I took these pictures today while testing Ron Sellers ( wilthing ) new 2004 custom made 28' powered by a single 496 HO 425 HP Mercruiser package. Its a great way to keep the cost down.

It ran perfect !!!:)

I will get some good pictures taken and post them next week.

Here is a picture of the 496 HO - 425 HP Merc. package.
We still got a little bit of detailing in the engine room which will be completed tomorrow morning. The blower hose needs to be cushion clamped down and a few odd ball wires need to be straightened out.I am very pleased on how the boat performed with this motor package.A great way to keep the cost down.

She sure looks fine!!...Sits tall and eager to tackle those waves. Can't wait for my pictures from the bay.

Another mean Pantera from the factory out to terrorize those in her way.

Great job JO, Pepe, Linda & Barbie.

Very Nice :D What kind of numbers did it see when you ran it?

JO - PANTERABOATS 02-16-2004 05:42 PM

Indy,

I was turning a 24 ' Bravo 1 at 4950-5000 RPM with 2 people and 50 gallons of fuel. The motor is still breaking in and running very rich. With time it should pick up another 100 - 150 rpm.The boat runs in the mid 60s.

It feels snappy in the mid range and has good response out in the Ocean.

I think it's another good power option for the 28' Single engine model. It keeps the cost down.

WHOSNEXT 02-17-2004 09:55 AM

Full Throttle 525, Is your boat a single 525? If so what kind of speed do you get out of it?

Full Throttle 525 02-17-2004 10:39 AM

Hey Whosnext...

My boat is a single 525. With regards to speed, I hope to know in a few weeks as to it has not been completed yet. JO is working on it now. I'm hoping to get low 70's. That should be enough to matt the hair down...all 5 of them:D :D .

JO - PANTERABOATS 02-17-2004 10:49 AM

With a single 525 EFI we will see GPS speeds in the 75 MPH range.

Clean Classic Lines !!!
Nicely Done JO !!!
Good Luck with Her WildThing !!!

JO - PANTERABOATS 02-18-2004 07:37 PM

Thanks Pat!!

It really is a very clean and simple boat to maintain. It is designed to go out and have a good time and not worry about anything falling apart or breaking. Hose it down and put it away and enjoy the following week.

Sometimes we get involved with some real nice sharp custom paint designs on our custom boats, but I like our workmanship and quality to be seen throughout the entire boat.If you look closely in the engine room, the cockpit upholstery fit, the cabin, gelcoat ,wiring , you will see the attention to detail is all there. I feel we build and deliver allot of boat for the money.

There is nothing better than going out in the Ocean in Nasty water and not hear any rattles, no flexing, and customers impressed with what we have built for them.

That is the only reason My Family and I have been in this buisness so long.We take allot of pride in our work and love to have a great relationship with all of our customers.

Regards,

JO

Some Day Jo... :)
Hopefully sooner than later I'll be looking into a 28' Pantera. Your boat is on top of a vary short list.
I had a couple of conversations with Too Old about the boat he has. Reminds me of the 28' Cigarette we had a few years back. Fred agreed but said your boat is even nicer being that it has more free board. I also like the fact you build a single engine. Two was too many for me to keep up with.
Just not in the cards at this stage of the game.
Keep On Building the Classics!
They will never go out of style...;)

Again, Good Luck WildThing!

Very ((I mean verrreeee)) nice Ron :) I like the black cup holders to offset the look too. Wish you the best of luck and much fun!

If you could, On pics #25 & #26, I'd really enjoy ((appreciate)) copies of those before being resized as well! TIA dude.
