80 Pantera 24' info??

Thought ya'll could answer a few questions for me about an 80 24 that I'm considering. Does the 24 have stand-up bolsters or full time sit down seats? Does it have a usable cabin that two adults can sleep in without being too couped up? Is it as capable in rough water as other Panteras are known for? What is the beam on the 24?

Sorry about the 20 questions! This boat needs a motor and is in my price range. Just not sure if the 24 is big enough.

Thanks for any help!

Eric

Where is this boat?

georges 04-20-2004 07:30 PM

Seating setups vary.
As well as cabins.
Rough water handling.......... oh yeah!
Beam is usually 7' on the 24.
Jo can probably answer any question you may have on this boat.
Good luck.

Hmm

Yup they handle the rough
Cabin is ok for two
SE is easier to get in and out of the cabin than the sport
Most have bolsters although you could get buckets.

If you want a boat that can handle the rough this is the boat, and enough room for two in the cabin.

CHAOS REIGNS 04-20-2004 08:58 PM

the 24 cabin is a good size -- i think 2 could sleep comfortably in it

but -- it is a pain to get into -- the newer ones are much easier!! (maybe i'm just to old!!!) lol

i was out on mine sunday -- never been in the ocean -- but on my lake the chop is unreal during a busy weekend -- and the boat just takes it !

Sorry the boat is actually a 1980 model. Probably the same though, right?

Georges, I talked to you before about your Pantera. The boat(or at least the seller) is in Baldwin NY. I wonder if you or anyone else here has seen this boat. It's red and black and he says the paint is new. I e-mailed him but havn't heard from him yet. Hopefully he'll send more pics.

Im glad to hear about the rough water ability!

Maybe Jo can ad some info.

Thanks guys!

I think I've seen this boat a few yrs back.
Color was white w/ orange and black stripes.
It was pretty rough then.
I have some pictures of it from then.
Send me your email and I'll shoot you them.
I'd have to believe its the same one... not too many Panteras on LI.

I just got mine and haven't dropped it in yet. :(

CheckmateF1 04-21-2004 09:02 AM

Stormrider that would be great. My e-mail is: [email protected]

What boat did you get?

Thanks!

Stormrider 04-21-2004 09:25 AM

I just sent the email.
Here is the link to pics of my ride.

Thanks! Your boat looks awesome! Im surprised the cabin is that big. But glad! Hopefully the 1980 model will be somewhat like that.

There are 2 different 24 models. The bottoms are the same but the caps are differnt. There is a "sport" which has a flat windshield/windscreen. And an "SE or Special Edition" that has a V shaped windshield/windscreen.

Do you know which one you are looking at?

I believe this is it.

Storm, I got your e-mail but I can't download the pics here at work. Puter is junk! I'll check them out tonight.

That looks like the boat. Trailer looks pretty much worthless though.

I guess I should call this guy, see if he even still has it.

Can anyone identify this type of drive?

CHAOS REIGNS 04-21-2004 03:30 PM

ugly ??? lol

Pantera1 04-21-2004 04:09 PM

Im guessing the upper is an OMC Cobra 400 with shift assist and power trim , never seen a lower like that.. Eww put a bracket and twin eggbeaters on it:eureka:

CheckmateF1 04-21-2004 09:55 PM

I need to e-mail that transom pic to Jo or Pepe and see if it can be converted to a Bravo. If that hole on the transom isn't bigger than a Bravo hole it could work, right? :D

Are those K-plane trim tabs?

What is that metal plate for down at the keel? I wonder if it's rotten or been broken.

I wish I'd hear from the owner!

By the way, Thanks alot for all the help guys!

Eric

Just got an e-mail from Jo @ Pantera. They said they only built two 24's with this drive. It's a SternPower speedmaster.

Jo also says filling the transom and recutting for a Bravo is not a big deal with someone knowledgable with fiberglass work.

Thanks Jo!

Just got an e-mail from the owner.

It is already SOLD!

Thanks for all the info and help!

One of these days I'll have a Pantera.
