Prop options

What benefit will I get going from a 3 blade mirage to a 4 blade bravo on my 24SE 454mag?

Boat also came w/ a 4 blade Hydromotive, but I've heard negatives on it w/ the 24.

Re: Prop options

The three blade is 1-2mph faster on calm water.
You will have better acceleration and no blowout with the four blade.
4 blade is also better in the rough.
Hydro lifts the stern, bravo lifts the bow. The Hydro is good in the rough but not on calm water...
These are my experiences in both a 24' Pantera and 24' Superboat.
If you are running a 25p Mirage, buy a 26p Bravo I...

Re: Prop options

Better ask Jo on that one, or do your own test and calculations,
everybody has a diffrent view on props. Been their done that
to many times and now I have four Bravo`s I need to sell because
they did not work for my boat. I had a 24 and I used a 25 mirage
plus and it worked flawless the drive was at 16, Jo has his 24`s
at 17 so you want to know your X-dim before you climb the prop
ladder. Good luck

I beleive a corection Hydros can lift bow or stern depending on how they were cut ..

Re: Prop options

Spoke to Jo. X-dim is 17 1/4 - 1/2.

I have to double check both props to see what they are.
Jo doesn't like the Hydro on the boat.
He does like the 4blade bravo's.

Maybe I could swap the Hydro for a Bravo.

Re: Prop options

No offence to Jo but I dont think he ever cut a hydro to have bow lift for his race boat when he had the 28 I was talking to Mike about it. In the past that was true that bravo had the bow lift so thats what we ran but now a hydro can have as much as a bravo .If worked right .

Re: Prop options

The bravo1 will plane at a slower speed, Accellerate better and go faster per rpm in the midrange. I have found the hydromotive 3 blade to be a good all around prop also especially in the rough. The Ironman.
