Splashed the 28 today!!!!
1 Attachment(s)
After three days of living in the bilge, the engine is installed and I took the 28 out for the maiden voyage!!! What a great riding and handling boat! It kind of took the fun out of scaring the hell out myself vs the 24.
Here are a few pictures of the install. First the bilge as I bought the boat: |

Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
When you put the outdrive on did you set the shifter in reverse on the throttles and also the linkage on the outdive itself in the reverse position? The boat looks great, best of luck...

I stepped up to the 28 due to our son. It's our family cruiser!
He just wants to know why Pepe and Jo put the seat so far back and where is the gas pedal!? |
Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
Couldn't have done it without your help Fred. Thanks for helping me upfront with the boat purchase, with all the accessories and trailer. You are an asset to the HP boating community!
I hope to get to some good seat/throttle time this weekend. I also hope to get the shift cable adjusted, makes for rough docking! I love this boat! Thanks Fred, Mark and Pantera!! |
Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
Got it all sorted out. The cables were all the way on the front position on the throttle and shift levers. A little adjustment and the boat shifts perfect and I almost have full throttle!!
Family goes for a ride tomorrow. Forecast: 70 and Sunny!! |
Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
WOW the install looks great! :D
Congrats on getting it rigged and running so quickly! It is awesome that Fred helped you so much, he really is an asset to all of the HP boaters :D Did you get any top speed numbers yet? What prop are you running? |
Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
Fred is nothing short of a class act and will have my support when I get another boat (whenever that is  )

Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
Currently running a labbed 26 Pitch Bravo. Haven't been out since last weekend with a full boat, wife, baby, brother in law and (2) nephews. I was taking it easy - 4800 RPM, about 65 or so. Running really rich, 62 PSI fuel pressure, way too much.
I'm not worried about the speed this year, just happy to have it running with no problems. I'll put it away for the winter next week. Great boat, the best I've ever driven. |
Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
Just niticed something pretty coll if I'm not going crazy. Are you pulling water off the pick-up to a thru hull for the drive shower. Geat idea if that is wat you did.
|
Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
Actually I am using the water dump from the intercooler to cool the drive. Works great and the drive is always being cooled even after a hard run while at idle.

Re: Splashed the 28 today!!!!
Super nice! It's good to see others "Working in their driveway". I sometimes think that I'm the only person that doesn't have a shop to fit my boat in.
