Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
Jerry,
I dont mean to rain on your parade but, Im assuming this is not the motor you ran during the season. If so, You should mention that your boat won the last 3 races with a different motor. And, that you only ran 3 races. The outcome of those races would have been much different with only 500hp. A reasonable price, neverless. |

Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
Sorry Bruce ,
We ran 575 HP in the race boat . What is the difference ? You ran a 650 HP ,12:1 super V race motor . We still cleaned your clock ! |
Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
Sorry Jerry,
did you dyno your motor?? how do you know its only 575? We do know its a 540 ci. did you dyno my motor? NO... and neither did I. So how do you know how much hp we have. I can tell you this. you didnt clean my clock. We were right on your ass in NY. and We were right on your ass in Brick, if we didnt blow the drive, we may have caught you . We had you in Point. dont deny it. Dont give me that BS about rain water in your bilge. Your only advantage over us was a 540 ci vs our 510 ci. I doubt we had any more than 575 HP either. Dont tell stories cause your nose may grow. If you wanna go, Keep your boat, I'll keep mine and we'll go the entire season next year and put some serious cash on the line. LETS DANCE :evilb: |
Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
Oh, by the way.... whos the OPA P-5 World Champs ?
Can't say if you ran all the races, you would be. In that case ...we would have been SBI National Champs "IF" we ran all the races. Sorry....unless you run all the races, you have no claim to fame. |

Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
No cabin I presume?

Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
I thought that P5 was capped at 70. Wouldn't 575 or 600hp make it a P4 ride? Nice Boat, If I only had another 10K lying around.......

575 or 600 would not make it a P-4, because they run around 75 in good water conditions. The advantage to a bigger cube motor in big water is acceleration out of the turns or off a launch. a 28 Pantera cant keep up with a 38 scarab in P-4 in Big water. |
Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
SO what you're saying is 600 hp from a 540cid is more powerful than 600 hp from a 510cid?
I always just assumed power was power, but then again I know nothing about motors.... |

And the true 70 mph boats are at a severe disadvantage.

Re: Race /Pleasure 28 for sale
Impressive Bruce !
Yes , the 540 CI motor makes a ton of torque - torque = acceleration . My 540 CI motor I built made 575 hp @5200 RPM with a torque peak at 3800 RPM . This allowed us to turn a big prop for gobs of midrange acceleration. top speed was around 73-75 mph . The motor could have been tuned for more hp easily and more top speed , but at the expense of midrange acceleration . HP = speed Without going to higher compression , higher hp is at the expense low speed torque . The Pantera 28 is a great rough water boat , but needs tons of torque to push it . We could have tuned it to run in P4 , but when running against twin engine boats , it would be hard to be competitive . This boat will run near 80 mph with 630 hp , but acceleration out of the turns will suffer . Tim G, give me your email address and I will forward pictures . This boat has a full cabin upfront with locker . |
