78 24 Pantera on Ebay
I found this on Ebay last night. I asked what he had the reserve set at but he wouldn't tell me. Looks to be in Decent shape. But I thought all 24's had standup bolsters. This one looks to be sit down only. Any input on this??
Jo, do you have any info on this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW |

Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
It will be interesting to see what Jo and Pepe have to say about it. The windscreen, dash, and cabin entrance don't seem to look like a normal pantera. Maybe they looked different in 78 than the newer ones.

Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Thats been around, and I believe its not a Pantera.
I know back then Pantera didn't have a V shaped fairing. |
Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
I think it is a Jaws.

Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Do Pantera 24's have that raised shape to the transom surface ? I thought that they were all flat across. Looks more like a P&D that used to have a volvo drive cut-out.

Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Panteras came with swing seats back in the day.........Look at the history photos.....

Thank you Minx20.
I see what you meant about that boat' s raised transom, I just looked at the Ebay ad. Someone here will know the story on that boat. |
Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
I have seen that boat advertised before a year or two ago.I think someone told me it was not a Pantera also.
|
Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
I have also heard that it is NOT a Pantera.

Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Wow, thanks for the great info! Look at the throttle and shifter also. Looks like the same cheesy sticks used on a Seadoo jet boat. This guy has only two feedbacks and one of those is bad. You think he's trying to pull one over on some unlucky buyer?
Jo, your the final word....Is this a "real" Pantera? Thanks for the help! Eric |
Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
I would have to say No.It looks like a P and D that had a Pantera 24' SE windshield mounted on the deck made out of White plexiglass. The dash is certainly different and the cabin entry in the cockpit liner is also different. The corner of the liner in front of the passenger side bolster curves around while our 24' model does not. If the serial number from that time frame starts with a WCW it is a Pantera.Tell him to read you the serial #.

Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Jo,
What does the WCW mean? |
Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Sounds like this guy had a Pantera at one point, trashed it and slapped the serial numbers to this resin bucket.

Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Thanks for the help guys!
Think I'll pass on this one. I don't even need to ask for the Hull #. Too sketchy for me! |
Re: 78 24 Pantera on Ebay
Hey guys that is definetly not a Pantera, it's a "Cobra" made here locally in the 70's.
I've seen this boat, in up close pics about a year ago. Angel |
