RPM / Prop / Speeds

What rpm props and speeds are you guys using and seeing?
GPS only guys.

Hey Storm,
My 89 24' Pantera ran 64-65mph at 4600-4700rpm with a 23p Mirage plus...

When I had my 24, I ran 72 with a 25 Mirage at 5200 rpm`s.....

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

are we just talking about 24s?

Stormrider 04-05-2005 03:05 PM

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

28s are fine too. slip% should not be too much more, per Jo.

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

stock 24p B-1 @ 5900rpm 75mph, labbed 26p B-1 @ 5900 78.7(new jersey) cool air, water, low humidity. (Florida) in warm, humid air, water ...i lose about 2 mph

The same boat also ran 62-63mph with a 22p Bravo I at 4900rpm...
I think my Sport model may have been a bit lighter than your SE.
I spoke to JO a lot about props when I had my Pantera. He told me that when they rig a 24' with a 310HP/7.4MPI they see 65-66mph at 4650rpm with a 23p Mirage +. My boat never did that well, but it was close.

I see vary similar results with my 24' Super. She tops out at 67+mph with a 25p Mirage+ at 4400-4450rpm.

Your Tachometer may be off a little...

Pat, how could this be checked... its a new Livorsi.
Could it be the sender?
How can I make sure its right on this time around?

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

My 28 spins a 28 Hydromotive, 5500 rpms, 85 mph on the gps, that will be a 12% slip, which is ideal.

I would suggest to compare to a second tach. There is no real sender, it's just a signal wire from the distributor. Your engine builder will have an easy way I'm sure.

Albert, how much HP/Torque you running?

Thanks Pat.

700/720

Keep in mind, I have a very light 28 race lay up with a notch transom not to be compared to any pleasure 28....

Hey guys I am running a labbed 27 pitch mirage plus at 5600 rpm and 81.7 on gps that was in Tampa Bay 83 Deg High humidty. I will be posting info on my prop session with Throttle up and hydromotive over the weekend.

Stormrider 04-07-2005 07:18 PM

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

look forward to hearing it anthony.
I've heard(from JO) the hydromotives tend to give stern lift, where the pantera 24 likes bow lift.
What torque you running?

Ran 82.8 with a 25P Mirage Plus @ 5400 RPM on the limiter

Ran 84.7 with a 29P Mirage @ 4700 RPM

Ran a 27P Mirage Plus but GPS batteries died!!!

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

I saw this on the Gen Disc. board, but how do you compare a B1 to a Mir plus?
They were saying a 25mir+ is like a 24B1.

Hey storm I have the dyno sheets in front of me. I will give you the numbers that are the closest to how the engine is tuned for reliability wich is the way I have it set up in the boat.
(5000)- 542 HP 569TQ (5500) - 567HP 542TQ
(5100) - 547 564 (5600) - 571 535
(5200)- 553 559 (5700) - 572 527
(5300) - 559 554 (5800) - 576 522
(5400) - 564 548

Hey sorry that post look like a bunch jumbled numbers but I am sure you can figure it out. Anthony

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

T, good deal. I think you'll be running more torque than me.
Trying to figure out what kinda prop I can run, and what speeds I'll achieve.
Thinking I'm gonna be running hi 70s.
Dyno is next week.

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

Hey let me know how you make out. I had a great time testing props a couple weeks ago i will post info over the weekend. I am running to Fl. to tow the boat home in a couple weeks we have to get together on the water Later Ant.

I have found that a 26p B1 is closer to a 25p Mirage +.
On my boat, 26p B1 was about 100rpm less than a 25pM+.

I suggest that you should start with a 26p Bravo 1.
You will probably see 5300-5400rpm at 80mph... :drink:

Stormrider 04-08-2005 02:18 PM

Re: RPM / Prop / Speeds

Pat, nicely optimistic. :D
Jeff thinks I should start w/ a 24B1.
sounds kinda small to me, but he's giving me them to try out.
Jo/Pepe will give advice and so will matt from Throttle UP.
Gotta love this board.
I'm gettin anxious. :woohoo:
