My father just bought a used (2000) 34' pleasure version. Mercury 502/415 efi's. Both the boat and the trailer are being worked on (changed a little) by him, not a huge project but still a project.

'94 29' Old School pleasure (stand-up, no steps). Single 520hp. Race/pleasure, will have to run 75mph.

Anyone else running similar set-up? Speed w/ x power?

Did you convert to stand up bolsters? cuz those look like sit downs.

fantastixvoyage 03-20-2006 07:02 PM

Re: Phantom Owners

Nah, they're tall-back manual bolsters. Nice rec seats but I'll need something more supportive for racing.

Are you planning on racing in OPA?If so,which class do you plan on running?

fantastixvoyage 04-16-2007 11:21 AM

Ya, OPA is really the way to go. I plan to do atleast St. Clair and Algonac (local races) in class 5. Boat isn't setup as "race" specific so I'll just have to see how it does. Plannin' on a couple poker runs too (chicago, lake cumberland, etc.).

You race?

Yes, I race with my friend Eddie in his 30ft Superboat "Outrageous" in Class 5.We ran most of the OPA schedule last year, and plan on the doing the same this year.
Class 5 is looking strong again this year, and your team will be a great addition to the fleet. The racing can be pretty intense;but the comraderie among the race teams is great. It is really exciting to see the OPA circut continue to grow.

We raced in Algonac last year;what a neat race course..going into those tight turns with boats close on the inside and outside was awesome.Look forward to meeting your team this season.

Mark

PS-Besides yourself and 2 Trick Rick;what other new teams are coming out from Michigan?

fantastixvoyage 04-17-2007 07:50 AM

Hey Mark. I'll see ya out there for sure this year. I was actually a listed team last year (Motor City Offshore) but just didn't have the time to finish the boat. Did run Algonac in a bat boat...if you want to call it that! Felt more like having the best seats in the house! (mech. problems limited rpms to 3500). Cool course though like you said.

We've still got all the Detroit regulars....Unleased, Crime Pays, Accurate, Wahoo, etc. Now like you said Rick is in it for class 4 with his cat, sleepy pirate is game for class 6 with his predator and I'll be at it with the Phantom in class 5. Even if I don't run my boat for all the races i do hope to be in one for as many races as possible.

World's are going to be insane!!!!!!

Neil,
Thats great that you will be doing as many races as possible.
You guys in The Great Lakes region certainly have brought racing back to life out there!St Claire and Algonac are great, and I know that there are additional races in the planning stages as well. You have a great group of race teams that I am sure will continue to grow when more people realize how much fun racing is.Post some pictures of the Phantom when you have the race graphics done.See you in Algonac.

Hey guys,
I have a 1999 30' Phantom with a single 500efi. I raced it for a couple of years in P class and it is a former F1 World Champion boat. I put a big stereo in last year for pleasure fun. We do some poker runs now and just have a blast with the boat. With about 20 gal. of gas and two people I have seen 84.6 on the GPS. It handles fantastic and loves bigger water. I imagine there are alot of these boats in garages covered in dust. They are a blast!!

Some pictures taken two weeks ago. New graphics will be ordered from Ryan Beckley one of these days. If you look closely you can barely see the #3 Dale Earnhardt shirt.
