34' race boat
Any pointers for racing a 34', set up, props, trim....
|
What hp are your engines? Drive height? My father's 34' was set-up as a pleasure boat, and the drives where mounted higher (than four other 34' Phantoms with Bravos that we have seen).
We run 32" Bravos, at 5000 - 5050 rpms. (502/415+ with Gil Exhaust and Tyler Crockett ECU re-programming) |
check with the guys from Simmons Racing..they run the former Twisted Styx..in class 4/OPA.
their 34 is hooked-up! Post a question on the OPA Forum..I'm sure they'll get back to you. Good Luck...great boats! |
Bodyshot is right, that boat is hooked-up. The drives on our boat are 1" higher than Simmons Marine, but then again we only are weekend racers going in a straight-line for a short distance as compared to a 50 mile course with turns. That Simmons boats takes turns at WOT, without a hitch (from what I have been told - my father checked the boat out and watched the Cambridge, MD race last year).

I raced with Augie in Algonac last year..we went into turn 1 w/Simmons on our starboard side..no more than 3' apart...unreal!...:evilb:
actually I think it was pretty much the entire first lap! that boat runs great! |
So what was their choice of props etc...
We are still dialing in Pipe Dream with the Whipples and the 30P Hydormotives aren't doing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kirk |
