Torch Lake question...

Is the ramp on the north end of Torch Lake, just east of US-31 in Eastport, decently steep? My 16' launched fine, but I remember the lake being down a bit and the ramp being kind of shallow. We have some 22' Donzis meeting up there soon and wonder if this is a good ramp for us.

I used the one in the Torch River one Saturday and parking was crazy crowded. Are there any other decent launch sites on this lake?

THANKS!

Another couple questions for those familiar with this area:

#1. What is a good spot to drop in at and cruise the Sleeping Bear Dunes along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Any sandbars or shoals to worry about?

#2. Any public ramps on Glen Lake?

There are two of them in Eastport. One is down from a party store(Sonny's I think) on Park St if I remember right. It is just one launch with a small cement pier. I launched my Pantera 24 ther over the 4th and it was plenty deep. A local said this launch is much deeper than the one a few blocks away with the dock(s).

When are you heading to Torch?

Hey Tracy, long time no see. 408? Widened 40 is still in production. Just hung up the phone with Chris and he was at Skater on Friday.

Can I drop in Lake Michigan at Leland?
How close can I cruise the coastline to the south?
I assume I can beach it along the way...

Sorry for so many questions, and thanks for any replies!

Plan on boating Torch this weekend if I can get this damn carb figured out in time.

I plan on dropping my boat on the east side of the lake just up the Clam river. The launch looks decent and it's right near the Dockside bar and resturant. Never been there but I'm going to give it a try.

Check out www.fishweb.com and go to the boating area , there is some pretty good info on Torch.

There is a small launch in Leland . I think U can stay somewhat close 2 the shore going south. Not sure about beaching! Good luck!

ajs few pics of Leland launch area. No prob beaching S. of there in Sleeping Bear - few sand bars that change with the weather but water is clear enough that you will notice them. Great place to get away from it all.

Saw two 22s and a 16 there on Saturday. Was that you guys?

Talked to Carl in a 2004 22 toward the end of the day and did a nice little leisurely 8-9 mile run with him. :D
