Poker Runs and Insurance
Greetings - I am getting ready for the Poker Run season and noticed in my insurance policy there is a provision that states coverage is void during sanctioned race events and jumping events.
Is a Poker Run a "Sanctioned Race Event"? Who decides if it is?
Is this provision unique to my policy, or do you guys have these as well?
How do you work around it?

A poker run is not a race from any organizer in the country any race event requires race insurance which is available to racers usually thru the race promoter example apba sbi oss etc.If you enter a poker run you are not competing in for a prize or first place you are playing a poker hand this is why you are covered in this kind of event. If the poker run is sanctioned by apra that means the promoter has insurance for the event for himself.

Exactly. It's not a race. Just a friendly social run like a group of people taking a casual ride around on their bycycles thru the park, or on their motorcycles on an out and back cruise.

I would ask my insurance company straight out and have them put it in writing. It's not a contest of speed or race but there has been some events that made the mistake of putting the word race in it. As we all know insurance companys will streach anything in order not to pay out.
