Sandusky Bay Pirate Fun Run June 26th and 27th 2009

June 26th and 27th 2009. in sunny Sandusky Bay. Most likley it will be the same as the years past, Friday night at Fridays, Saturday run to Port Clinton and on to Kelleys.

Im open for suggestions for Saturday destinations, east, west, north as long as its realistic for a large group of boats.

Check here for updates: http://www.islandpirates.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=2907

You mean 2009? :D

THRILLSEEKER 03-04-2009 03:58 PM

After much thought and consideration and input from others, we have decided to make Middle Bass Island the mid afternoon and overnight destination.

I just spoke with Ed Gudenas of St. Hazzards and he is willing to help in any way he can. He has offered the handleing of dock reservations, transportation to and from the marina to the resort, use of shower facilities, and breakfest buffet on Sunday morning. For those of you who havent been there before, the atmosphere is like nothing else you will find on the Lake Erie Islands.

Heres a few teasers: http://www.sthazards.com/St-Hazards-Fun-Pictures.php

What is the exact schedule on this run ? Are you working with LEOPA as well ? Never done this one and might be interested. Please let us know the details.

Hope you decide to come. Its seperate from LEOPA but lots of LEOPA members will be there. This run is pretty low key ... kinda ... hehe ... Its is definitely one I try not to miss. Glad its not falling on a race weekend so we can be there this year.

Tony and Elizabeth have done a good job taking over what RHC gave them.... lots of great people, lots of great places and lots of good times

laszlo01 03-15-2009 08:42 AM

Sounds good, is there a sign up form with the details ?

NEVERSATISFIED 04-23-2009 09:40 PM

Could you post more information (weekend agenda and registration info)
Thanks Steve

THRILLSEEKER 05-05-2009 11:12 AM

There is no sign up form, if you want to run just show up Sat. A.M. and run. cards can be purchased at the stops, and the drawing is at the overnight stop. We are still on the fence about where we are making the mid day stop. For more info keep an eye on this thread. http://www.islandpirates.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=2907

Thanks and hope to see you all there.

Steve, do you ever run on Alum Creek? I live about 20 min. north of there.

bigboat28 05-05-2009 11:45 AM

No he goes to Buckeye Lake, Alum is to deep for him.LOL:drink:

NEVERSATISFIED 05-10-2009 03:38 PM

Buckeye is only about 15 min. from house to the ramp. So if we stay in town we sometimes end up floating around there.
I have been to Alum before with my 26' Thoroughbred and 29' Fountain though but spend most of our time at Lake Erie or Cumberland.
Steve
P.S. Dale you made a move yet and pulled the trigger on something?

THRILLSEEKER 05-11-2009 08:13 AM

UPDATE!

We should have all the details laid in place after this weekend, we have been on the fence as where to have a late morning/ mid day stop before going on to Hazzards.

runafever 05-17-2009 12:18 PM

Tony I might try and make this one finally this year. Post some more details when you have them.

THRILLSEEKER 06-15-2009 08:45 PM

OK, guys Im sorry this took so long words cannot explain how busy Ive been this spring. Unfortunately just about everything has changed since the original plan. I'm no going into a lot of details but I just didnt have a good feeling about the original layout for numerous reasons. I sincerely apologize for it taking so long to come out with the final run down but here it is.

Friday night, were all meeting at Lyman Harbor, theres plenty of deep water docks available for the evening or overnight. The Lyman club will be having a small gatheing there that night so there should be a good bit of classic antique boats there to look at in addition to our crew.

Sat A.M. there will be a group of boats will be milling in front of the Cedar Point roller coasters bay side. The pack will leave at 11 A.M. sharp and head to the Jackelope in Lorain for a few hours for lunch.

From there the group will be heading directly to The Kelleys Island Casino for the seccond and final stop on the run. WE WILL NOT BE GOING TO HAZZARDS AS ORIGINALLY PLANNED!

93 Octane is available at Castaway Bay, Im checking on a few possible other places in Sandusky Bay and in Lorain. Lodging and overnight docking is also available at Castaway Bay but its pricey, the KI hotel has been booked for that weekend for months. The Budget Inn on Rt. 6 has good clean rooms at a very reasonable rate, its a $5 cab ride from Lyman Harbor if you want to leave your boat there and head to a hotel. Card hands are $100 bucks a hand buy as many as you want, winner takes all. In the past the winners have walked away with a few grand in cash.

Heres a few links to some of the key places involved, if any of you need additional info feel free to PM me or hell just call me.

That's not like her. I was kind of wandering that myself.

Racegirl3 06-17-2009 04:51 PM

:D As much as I would like to go see Hazzards (never been there) I think the Casino deserves us .... take that anyway you want :D

Actually .... I shouldnt say us, I should say you guys cuz I still havent found a place to sleep so I'm confirmed with my plans.

Sandusky/ Put-In-Bay

Good morning.

So, we're on a mission. We're trying to experience as many of the hot-spot Poker Runs as we can. We've done Desert Storm, Thousand Islands, an several others up and down the east coast.

I'm being told that we need to experience a run in the Sandusky Bay, and in particular Put-In-Bay area.

It's about a 5-6 hour tow for us from Rochester NY, so it's not bad...but I'll probably only be able to pull it off once this summer. So, is this Sandusky Bay run the one I should consider for that experience?....or is there another upcoming one that would be better for us?

Feel free to PM me if this comes off as thread highjacking. :drink:

I look forward to the responses.

Racegirl3 06-20-2009 07:45 AM

Ive never had a bad time at any of the runs on Lake Erie :D

Id really hate to dissapoint someone who is traveling from so far away. There generally isnt a huge turn out, usually somewhere between 10 and 30 boats. The best part of our little run is the people who participate and are otherwise involved with it, you will have a hard time finding a more down to earth friendly group. If your heart is set on an overnight at Put In Bay perhaps look into the run that Jeff Wilson puts on in August, its more of a true poker run format while the Pirate run is more laid back with less organization.

Thrillseeker...thanks for the cander.

I'll talk it over w/my crew.

I look forward to running out there at some point.

Doug 06-23-2009 09:19 PM

Well I think we might come out and play. I'm finishing up some fuel lines and filters in the morning and hit the lake for a spin to make sure everything is working. Never been on Lake Erie except on the Jet Express to Put in Bay about 10 years ago. Been looking at my maps and putting everything in my GPS but need some help with a launch ramp. Need a lot of room to maneuver around. Tight spots just will not work. Coming across the toll road out of Indiana and hope to find something close to where we are staying friday night.

Doug
