Junkie,
I for one are greatfull of your screwup. I was one of the four boats out of Wilson that you ran with. With my little boat I don't get to run with the big dogs. To be in 22 scarab and run with that group was a thrill for me and my son. We were on top of the world.Great fun, Great people, Great boats, and thanks to all!!!! |

I have a son as well (although he has yet to do a run with me - mom is not quite ready for that), and enjoy nothing more than seeing him light up. Your post made me smile. Next time stop over and introduce yourselves. Cioa! |

Thanks for the post Yak.

He's been with me every year since then. The only difference is that the last few years he's been driving! You'd be surprised how fast the time goes by. |

My Sicilian in-laws we're horrified that I had both my kids on the jetski with me since they were 6 mos old. Now at 13 yrs old my son thinks our 73mph jetski isn't fast enough. Having this same kid in the heat of a 120mph adrenaline rush sounds a bit like handing him a crack pipe in some respects. :-) What's his thrill threshold going to need to be when he's 18? Nonetheless, I do look forward to dragging him along on one of these runs at some point, and living vicariously through him. |

Clearly you're a better negotiator than I am.

My brother and I took our wives and daughters.......with a little arm twisting from the moms....... on this Eagle Creek run. We did'nt set any speed records on their behalf. Turned out to be great family fun for all and we cant wait to do it again next year.

We need to get all the clubs together next year. I feel bad that the run got scheduled on the same day as the WNYOPA radar run/picnic. This fall we need to start bouncing dates around so that our runs and events don't over lap. I'd like to see ROPA, WNYOPA, SPBA, NY Powerboat inc. & others all working together.

It would be nice to at least do one joint run with each of the local organizations driving its success. We have some great people and great hardware in this geo. To get all of that gathered in one location for a weekend would be quite a "spectacle." Rochester is central to both the Buffalo region and the CNY region - not that I am biased, or anything. However, we're at the mercy of mother nature. We lucked out this year and had only a slight breeze out of the south so Lake Ontario was AWESOME! Imagine what a run would be like with card stops at locations like Eagle Creek, Port of Rochester, Irondequoit Bay and Sodus Bay...or even Oswego instead of Eagle Creek.......and no speed limit out in the big lake - on a day like we had for the ROPA event that would be phenomonal. Unfortunately, we only get a handful of days like that on Lake Ontario every year (this year was way better than most)...and the chances of one of those days falling on a day of the event again, are probably pretty slim. So, one of the Finger Lakes (like Seneca) may be a better choice, assuming the permits could be had. Hmmmmm....food for thought. |
