Default Key West Poker Run Newbie

Thinking about doing it this year. I have never done it before so I am looking for some tips from people that have done it. Like where to stay, what marina to keep the boat, what are the best days to go. Basically some do's and dont's. Obviously this isn’t a cheap deal so I just want to make sure if I do it I do it right.

There are not many choices left. I would suggest Laconcha in KW, and keep the boat at the bight.

Many hotels are already sold out, so sign up soon, FPC will do the rest for you!

look into staying at the truman annex in key west. there are plenty of town houses left, just not much on the water but one of the better areas to stay. it's right off of duval, near the pits and basically right in the middle of everything. if you get in there you really don't need a car or scooter, it's nice and close to everything. i would try and leave with the Thursday group if possible, there will more boats to run with. it's a run you will not regret doing, not cheap but plenty of fun. hope this helps

There is not much left in KW. Truman is down to 2 very small condos.

I'm going to try it next year if I get the 40' Skater bought.

1. Is there a web site with all this info?
2. The Skater "Recovery" does not have a cabin. Do we need one to comfortably run this?

Thanks

I don't think anyone sleeps on there boat so I would think a cabin is a non issue.Did the second half of the run last year in a 42 Poker Run with no cabin.Great time 1st class all the way.

if you have a hose and a brush and you know how to use them, salt is not an issue. get over it and run the boat, it's not going to hurt it.

Salt Away is your friend I've been told. My worry is to run in the salt then drag it 1500 mi and let it sit in the garage for 6 months........ It is really tempting though
