For those that do not know it, Barry (2012 president) and John (2012 vice president) and their wives have worked behind the scenes for years to help organize this run. These guys are not rookies and know how to put this thing together!!! Even most of their supporting staff have been at this for some time.

Looking forward to seeing everyone for what will be my 9th year!!!!!!

What do you want to know.....

Meet and greet and party friday night. Lot of people stay in hotels in Chester VA. Sign in, have captains meeting, and unlike most runs we actually pull all our cards that night (winner not known til the sat night party).

Run starts 10:00 sat AM just outside Jordan Point Marina (where the friday party is). Water stop on the way to the lunch stop at Smithfield station. 2-2.5 hours with lunch and pool time (lots of people post raft-up photos taken from the balconies).

Head to final destination where the dock party has been discussed here as being a little wild

The hotel/banquet is next door where your feed a full meal, great door prizes and cards drawn/checked. The band that comes each year really rocks with a number of members following them around throughout the year.

Gift bags include minor things from local businesses, T-shirts, and you'll get a DVD from the helicopter (that follows the entire event) mailed to you soon after the run is over. and coming from New Orleans.......you might not even be the farthest traveled to get here!!!!

Past runs have had the owners of Active Thunder, Sunsation, and Foutain (Reggie and Wyatt) all making the run together. While some fast boats show up (locals running 140-160), no mention of first boat/fastest boat is acknowledged and everyone has a great time just cruising the run at 45 if you wish. (While certainly a rare site, I did the run last year on a 28 ft Boston Whaler CC)

More details are available about hotels, etc but that's the cliff notes.

any more questions????

I spoke to Mark Boos (Precision Marine) about a week ago. Said he and AJ were trying to make it this year.

We towed to Precision last winter. About 15 hours....

We have received several inquiries that there was not going to be a dock party this year. With 300 + powerboaters on a dock there is going to be a party!!! However due to concerns from the marina & sponsors there will be no organized wet tshirt contest. For those who have never done this run this is an awesome event with a lot of great people and boats of various sizes can do this run. This run is different from most as we start at one marina & ends at another. Sunday is go at your own pace. A lot of us head back up river to raft off at Chipokes for a couple of hours before heading back. While others may visit some of the other local marinas.

For hotel reservations for Friday night 7/13/12 you can call the Courtyard by Marriott 804-414-1010 directly & let them know you are with the RPBA to receive the discounted price of $79 a night.
The Acca Shriners will be providing transportation to & from
the marina Friday night.

Hotel reversations for Saturday night can be made by calling the Portsmouth Renaissance at 757-673-3000 directly & again let them know you are with the Richmond Power Boat Assoc to receive the discounted rate of $133.

Registrations can be downloaded at our website jotj.weebly.com.

We are looking forward to another awesome year & can't wait to see everyone.

If you need additional information, please contact me at 804-512-5195 or you can email at [email protected]
