Due to Deteriorating Weather Conditions…..

The 2012 Hudson River Fall Fun Run has been CANCELLED!!!!!!

We have been watching the weather around the clock and due to the forecasts being predicted the 2012 Hudson River Fall Fun Run is being cancelled. Not only is there a 40% chance of rain but there is also a cold front with a high of 50that will be moving across the area on Saturday and lingering through Monday. With the water temperatures of the Hudson River still being warm, usually these conditions create an intense low level fog on the water. I have personally experienced this type of fog on the river and it becomes so dense that you cannot even see your own bow light.

Also in speaking with the helicopter pilot, he has concluded that he WILL NOT fly in these conditions with his doors off. With that being said, Tim Sharkey of Sharkey Images also agrees that the conditions will be unfavorable for any type of amazing aerial photography, especially without a helicopter.

Since safety is our number one priority in these events, we DO NOT want to risk anyone being injured, becoming sick, etc. It is with much regret that we are cancelling the run this year. Due to the obligations we have with the restaurant being able to accommodate our large group, they needed to make the food order by 2pm today. We held off as long as possible in hopes of more favorable weather conditions. We also were concerned about our out of town guests being able to cancel their reservations in time without being penalized.

Trust me. No one is more disappointed than our immediate event team that has spent hundreds of hours coordinating this event.

We will now turn our efforts toward making the 2013 SPRING Hudson River Fun Run a much larger event than in the previous years. We hope to see everyone there to support this charity event.

Is this a rain or shine run? My phone says chance of rain an 52 on sunday. :mad: I hope there worng but either way ill be ready with my race helmets if it dose rain. :boat:

Well I'm sure nobody is disappointed more then Anthony and the "team" that helps make this event a reality. As stated before the countless hours of preparation, money spent, coordination, and sleepless nights that are all part of making an event like this come to life and go off without a hitch is something that very few have 1st hand knowledge of. Unless you have been lucky enough to have been part of one of these "teams". All the reasons that have lead to this cancellation are all very good and valid points as well as LARGE SAFETY issues. When getting near the date of an event like this, not only does adrenaline start to pump but so does the excitement of knowing so many good people are gathering together to do what they love, as well as support a great cause at hand, and becomes a great feeling. This is run has grown from a small Saturday "Hey lets go for a ride" group, to the Fun Run that many of us know today as the Hudson Spring & Fall runs that have donated and helped the children of Make-A-Wish . We look forward to this run each year and will continue to do so as well as have great respect for Anthony and his TEAM for all of their efforts and contributions to make these runs happen. Thanks for all you guys do and keep up the good work you guys do and we will see you in the spring.

And we can still cancel our rooms without getting harpooned! I guess we can count on twice as many boats in the spring due to plenty of planning time for everyone. Thank again Guys and Gals.
