Default Florida Powerboat club vs. Superboat races

Why would the Florida Powerboat club schedule the Tampa Poker run at the exact same time as Super Boat races 80 miles away? The sport could use all the support as possible. I guess a fun run out of Manasota probably won't happen now. Thinking the boat is staying home.

Probably because the FPC run is ALWAYS around that weekend and has been scheduled a lot longer than the race.

Plus, SBI has a horrible history of picking dates and even canceling events only weeks before they are scheduled.

But FPC recently announced it??? I noticed in November SBI had this on their schedule. Either way, I would considered doing both if they were a weekend apart.

Why has SBI cancelled in the past? Weather? That would really suck!!!!

Not, the St Pete/Tampa PR has been going a few years. You can see it in the FPC Galleries.

SBI has canceled fall kinds of reasons, lack of entries, lack of local sponsors, you name it.

I plan on hitting both events, just looking for someone to make that run with... It's only 60 miles down from St Pete along the outside, Google Earth checked it both ways. So what's another 120 after a poker run.. LoL

I'm planning on staying around Sarasota, same distance in either direction.

But I completely agree that SBI could have planned this one a little better. Might I suggest a name and physical location that are somehow related...?

Being new to Florida and not being familiar with the areas can the SBI races be watched from the water? I would like to haul our 29' Fountain over to Sarasota and watch the races. Is there an area to do this from? Is any on else planning on doing the same thing? It would be great to meet up with a crew of boats and tie up for the races. If so where do you put in at?
