I finally have a chance to post. Being retired is hard work! Always something to keep you busy.
I just want to pass my Thank You's on to several people. First I'd like to thank all the participants and passengers for coming and making this 25 years of safe and fun high perfomance powerboating at Seneca Lake. You are all the reason I've been still doing this after 25 years.
While I hope I'm still around to participate in the 50th anniversary Don't expect me to be in charge then. I already have a President in Training but we need to wait until she is at least 21.
Next I'd like to thank all the sponsors who supported us to keep this a prosperous event for our charity, Mercy Flight Central, and all the participants.
Next is the venues that accommodated us- Showboat Motel, Rainbow Cove Motel, Barrett's Marine, Glen Harbor Marine and the Watkin's Glen Village Marina.
A big shout out to our charity, Mercy Flight Central for bringing a helicopter down for some fly by's and letting us put a video camera onboard. Hopefully soon we will get that video and there will be some good stuff on it.
I'm saving the biggest, like (HUUUU-GE!) one to the officers, run committee and crew who helped make this run a big success. Without all of you there would not be a run at all, not to mention one as good as this one was.
They are:
Dave Spanton- my longtime Vice President and partner in crime with the awards ceremony.
Jeremy Starr- Treasurer, registration, and most everything that is needed even before we need it, or sometimes even think of it!
Bryan Cooksey- Secretary, webmaster,ticketmaster, registration and much, much more.
Mary O'Dea- committee member, person in charge of ladies prizes, 50-50 ticket coordinator and sales, merchandise sales and anything else I personally need (ok were are engaged so get your minds out of the gutter!)
Matt Wise- committee member, t-shirt designer and procurer, game board designer builder , club master mechanic and father of President in Training.
Roger Fisher- committee member, photo boat captain, band procurer, and giver-he just gives and gives and never asks for anything back!
And definitely not least:
Tom Warda (Too Stroked here)- longest member of ROPA (even longer than me), always doing whatever is needed- pace boat, delivering tickets and nets, passing out tickets and generally keeping us sharp on safety and all aspects of the run. Also the leading participant of winning women's prizes!
These are just the people who work year round for the run. There are many more that help at the run and I'm sure I would miss a name or 2 if I tried to list them. You all have my deepest gratitude as well.
Next years run is July 15-17 (actual run Sat. the 16th). I look forward to seeing you all again and hopefully meeting some new friends as well.
