Destin area events in Aug/Sept

looking at visiting the area in Aug or Sept and curious if there are any boating events happening? Can someone recommend a place to raft up or hang out? Going to grag our Fastech 271 down for a trip and don't want to miss out on any fun.

TIA-Rob

Thanks for the info...looks like we are changing destination to the Port Charlotte area. Seems to be more boating opportunities in that area.

The poker run was just this past weekend but still many opportunities down here. I'm a local if you decide to come down and we are out almost every weekend.

You can put in around destin, go to crab island, huge party spot tons of boats, floating obstacle courses for the kids, volleyball nets, floating food barges, every now and then live music. Or go into destin harbor where you get all the restraunts and bars on the water you can think of. About 10 min cruise west and you can get some of the best pizza in town at helenback. Another 25 min cruise and you get to Navarre where there's juanas/sailors grille which is an awesome beach bar with live music you can pull right on the beach or dock and get some lunch at sailors grille. Or across the bay from juanas is the new marina they just opened which has gas and mooring slips along with a nice BBQ restraunt. Then another 20-30 min cruise gets you to Pensacola beach where you can dock or beach and go up and down the boardwalk where there's more restraunts and a great daiquiri bar called bamboo willies next door to hooters. There's upscale restraunts as well, hemmingways and the grand marlin. Go to Flounders and get some lunch and the famous Diesel Fuel drink. Then go further down to ft McRae on the other side of the pass situated in a little cove between two barrier islands. The fort is old and abandoned but bring a flashlight and you can actually get inside of it. Also if you're feeling froggy you can take the innercoastal to orange beach Alabama and stop in to the flora bama yacht club for food and drinks and live music. You can also get to gulf shores and Panama City via innercoastal and I know left tons of other stuff out. Not to mention you can stop almost anywhere and get on the beach and hang out

Florabama is alright, but pirates cove is where its at in orange beach. PCB was not my favorite. Will have to try the new bbq place in the marine by juanas.
