The big bowl outside of State Dock used to have some really nasty water before/during the old Cumberland Poker run, but I don't believe it ever got as bad as some of the pics I've seen of LOTO this year.

I understand that aspect completely. Maybe an "escorted" departure at 4pm for the competitors?

And I don't think it needs to last until midnight. I just think having a written/set time is the problem. If people didn't know when it would end they would just leave as they see fit at all hours. I would guess that it would be done by 630-7pm "as traffic dictates" the time.

Simplest way I can think of is to create a log jam of boats through a funnel to reduce the number leaving at once at the end of the races.
Water Patrol boats narrow the area and force boats all the way to left so there are only 8-10 boats wide when exiting the no wake.
Have the no wake end at the 31 mm but go until 6pm, but restrict the number of boats that are allowed to exit with a funnel effect.

I am amazed that anyone on this website would be suggesting wake zones at all. We collectively should fight every single wake zone area in the entire country. There is a lake a river a large channel we have the right to use them. Not abuse them but use them. Our boats really do not throw up that large of a wake or cause that much upheaval of water. Certainly compare to a normal storm.

Think there is a nice winding river and you go blasting along having a great time. Next one house goes up and then more then they say we hate boats and they are the cause for all the problems they should slow down. Wake zone and there will be a wake zone for an entire river or an entire lake if we let them.

There are some in politics that want to ban all boats and destroy boating. If your not old enough to remember the luxury tax do some research it crushed a thriving boating industry.

And we should not allow the government to create lanes or log jams.

No one on this forum should ever think about adding or increasing a wake zone. sheeeeezzzz

Lets use the rules that are straight forward and easy to follow. Captain your own ship.

It is incredible how many people on the water today are screaming at everyone around them while they are breaking the simple rules of who has the right of way.

We do not want the government to get involved with setting wake zones or creating traffic flow. They are of course and if we give them any more power to do so they will regulate the crap out of boating and destroy every bit of fun it can offer.

Just think no jet skis no tubing no skiing no loud boats no fast boats no motors no music. They will given a chance regulate it to death!

Never never never as a boater suggest the government get involved in any way.

Captain your own ship period. Have the right equipment necessary operate the boat correctly make sure the vessel is seaworthy and the occupants are safe.

The real problem is the location. When it was at Shooters, you had traffic departing in two directions. The majority of the traffic today heads downstream from Ron's. Add in the recovered lake economy which is resulting in the largest crowds, and even larger boats, that have ever attended and you get what we got last Saturday. The extended no wake was a complete failure and should be abandoned. As for what the best solution is, I'm not sure. At the end of the day, if you have property on the main channel at LOTO, it is a given at times your property is going to take a beating.

What about a staggered no wake zone based on boat length and time intervals.

First hour
Under 20' are allowed to make a wake
an hour later
20'-30' are allowed to make a wake

I would venture a guess that the only boats out under 20' regularly anymore are PWC's. I wish it could be held back around Shooters area.

Would love to see PBC/Redhead take it over and it move back to roughly the original location.

If you guys haven't seen here is video of us coming home in my 25 outlaw glad I added the extension box and hydraulic steering. We were at MM27 when the clock hit 5:30 and ends at MM21. I have to agree with Knot 4 Me it would me nice to see PBC take it over and not have everyone leaving in one direction.
