With boat under load keep advancing timing untill motor suddenly stops. REbuild motor and set the ting 3.5 degrees less than that, your golden.

There’s no difference ( other than water pickups) in lower cases for quite a while now, the case used is the 8866A64

The only difference is in the internals.

200 hrs on XR gears is a pretty average lifespan. Most of the time its the upper gears that let go though

Keep in mind, the 292 Fastec's came standard with 1.65 ratio drives. Pretty sure Formula did this due to issues getting on plane.
