Malta P1
just came from the wetpits with all teams preparing
Cigarette boats looks great as does the Fountain the Italcraft boat looked totally different to this http://www.powerboatp1.com/imagegall...08_engine_.jpg and instead it looked like a Metamarine, may be some insider can give some information about this.... |
GFN Gibellato takes the pole again
and OSG and Honeyparty are a whisker togather Fountain is 5th and Cigarette 6th, with Pignolo 53 4th Pignolo looked very good as did the OSG boat the story with the Italcraft is that Panatta will be using the Metamarine boat (it might be the no.64 with new branding and stickers) for Malta, as some teething problems and engine trouble surrounds the real Italcraft according to the P1 radio he still might get some points, I tought it got a better time in the poles then 7th strangely enough nor Lucas Oil, nor Searex competed, same goes for Centurian but that was expected for the trouble they had in Marseille |
keep us posted!!! Thanks
|
watched both races today NICE conditions was a NW wind with Force 5 seas and good 2 metre waves
Conam Yachts looked dominatant as ever in the Supersport, but the show was given by VoomVoom Hustler who from last finished a good second, IMPRESSIVE Baia finished third after a good start race and nearing a second place Evolution what a race! The bad news was that Cigarette did not compete, had a problem of some sorts during trial a few minutes before the race which we watched them going in harbour with what looked like one engine!!! still they entairtained us as they run the course practisiing and up tuning there boat the good news was the win by OSG Outerlimits, this boat looked like a bullet, second place to GFN Gibellata what a race from last to second this boat is solid as a rock in choppy waters and the more it drinks fuel the faster it gets, and finally Honeyparty finished third unbeatable Fountina came to fifth after a problem in the last 2laps, but Gibellato was closing in at the time Fantastic and Spectacular race now we wait for tommorow |
What about Skater Lucas Oil????

Sorry, I couldn't resist... :D Congrats to the teams that made the podium... :ernaehrung004: |
Here is a link to some great pics from the P1 races in Malta including some shots of the Cigarette completely airborne.

nice pics
this is better then the P1 site, which I hope it does improve in the future as this year I am not seeing as efficient as it used to be |
SuperSport just finished
again dominated by Coman nice battle but for 2nd place between Baia, VoomVoom and Buzzi Bullet, all of them wer second at a point during the race both Buzzi Bullet and VoomVoom stopped down also at one point, if voomvoom would have not stopped it would have been second for sure Hustler has the potential to win IMO, Big Sergio boat also looked good but they have some trouble going on with the boat |
Liam,
Awesome...What about Evolution Class? Chris |
Kiton Outerlimits 1st.
Fountain Worldwide 2nd. |
just came from the harbour
Centurian Outerlimit did not go out today, Panatta and his Metamarine italcraft did manage to finish a race bad day for Skater, Lucas Oil did not go out, HoneyParty stopped after 2 laps and Pignolo stopped at the end, tough it managed to turn a buoy in order to get points GBN Gibellato had some problems in the start still it did manage 5th place OSG Outerlimits is unstoppable, that boat is gonna take something to beat it on what I saw today, Cigarette is also fast and managed third after an engine trouble made her stop 1) OSG Outerlimits 2) Fountain 3) Cigarette 4) Searex 5) GBN Gibellato 6) Italcraft 7) Pignolo 53 |
Pix and full results now posted

It's just a guess, but it appears that the Telemetry System has leveled the playing field as I predicted it would..... ;) that boat had disaster starts and manged to come 2nd from way last in few occasions, yesterday they had air problems in the engines still managed to go 5th, but u had to see it on Saturday it looked always growing the more the tank got empty, I think some better race strategy and starts can make the boat go far this season |

Fountain 99 was very lucky to make it for the saturday race
During testing they nose dived and took a lot of water through the cockpit flood tubes. Result : lots of water in the cockpit and Craig and James almost had to use their breathing devices:eek: Nice team work btw in order to get the boat ready. They went through some quick repairs, took all the water out and only few minutes before start of race , they made it for the line up. :Score-101010: |
I think there is some error with the points on the official site
as 60 GFN Gibellato has 250 on the official P1 site, I think that should be more then that having 210 before the start of the weekend they took 80 points with the second place on Saturday and 40 for the fifth, total 330. |

Exept for the fact that in P1 there is NO telemetry system:eek: Telemetry is no the same as data logging. That's what I meant... Indeed, Mr.Panatte, rented the last years Metamarine from Mr. Pennezi for the next two races.
This most probably because of the fact that his new italcraft boat is not ready yet. Panatta will be using the old Metamarine again in Tunisia, as his new hull is being prepared for a record breaking to Venice-MonteCarlo route, classic race new boat should be used in Spain in Vigo if all goes well championship points are still not fixed but as Metamarine and OSG should be head to head at 330 as is on the VS site Offical Site - Virtual Spectator OS - VS 430 - 430 FWW 340 - 330 OSG 250 - 330 GFN Metamarine 220 - 210 Lucas Oil 200 - 180 Pignolo 170 - 170 Cranefields 160 - 150 Cig Fantastic 1 130 - 130 Centurian 60 - 60 Honeyparty 30 - 30 Italcraft hope this gets fixed |
youre right liam
But theres a bit of controversy about the points Yo're right the bianautica hull is being used for V-M-V and it is expected to be runnung at it's best in Spain. They couldn't settle with engine settups. |
Gibellato was disqualified in Marseille on Sunday for Casuing the incident between Cranefield and old OL boat. So he loses 80 points and this moves OSG up ten points.
However this could be overturned come tunisia!!! |

Liam i agree last year and in previous years the press was much etter. the photogallery of this year is nearly empty only few photos per gp. And udates and news have decreased.
