Sarasota Offshore Grand Prix 2016

Seeing how our boat has been in Sarasota since New Years, partly to have some work done and partly some New Years fun, we decided to enter the grand prix next month. Work has been crazy busy all spring which has shut done our usual OPA antics. We registered for Pro Am 1 to run in the 90 to 95 area depending on who shows up. If there are any p3 guys lookin to have some fun come on out. Sarasota is steeped with tradition and a heck of a great place to race. Brian

What rules are they going to follow for Super V light? APBA- Sealed 525efi or the same handicapped system they used last year?

bwd 06-01-2016 06:45 PM

Apba, I'm guessing same but I wouldn't know.

I've been told sealed 525 only this year for svl. All others P4. I'm gonna yank the vortec after marathon and drop in a 700sci and that should take care of that.

Ryan Beckley 06-06-2016 09:35 AM

SVL is sealed Merc 525s, in Sarasota. All others will have to run in the P classes

SVL 13 WeHaulBoats is comming

Check out the website, "Sarasota Powerboat Gran Prix"..... Above, click 'race' / then schedule. A, PDF file showing times.

All off-shore racing on Sunday starting at 10:00

I met most of the teams today,,,,,,, The meet -n- greet, then went to the pits. A fun time.
I forgot to take a photo of the Victory Team.... ( I talked too much with them )..... They said, this sort of racing in Europe has fizzled, so they will stick around in the states racing.

I'll call ya..... I left a voicemail message..... The pits for the Sarasota race is quite good. Many rows for medium boats, a large area at the far end, for the big haulers to maneuver. Easy entry / exit from pits. I took a Google Earth view of the location. ( I will try to post the pic )

mountie 07-12-2019 03:01 PM

They need elbow room to maneuver !! Also space for the teams 'other-class' boats to park beside. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1357d316c8.jpg

View of Sarasota pit area. ( Note large open area at lower-left for big rigs )
But I do not have any pics of the teams parked.... These teams are accustomed to making their spaces work...
