Fuel Tank set up
Maybe DkWestern can help me with this...I have a triple OB/33 like yours and I have two fuel tanks. How is this system set up? How do the motors pull from the tanks? Is there a valve to switch tanks or do they pull from both at the same time...I am a bit confused...Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Fuel Tank set up
On mine I have two fuel pumps that pull (one from each tank) these are basically primers (instead of squeezing the ball) I turn them on for 5-10 seconds to get the fuel through the system. After these two pumps they deliver fuel to a common block mounted on the firewall, where 3 fuel lines come out to each engine. The engines then take over and creat vacuum and pull the fuel through the lines. On mine I do not have any valves to switch or shut of either tank.
Look in your battery compartment on the firewall and you'll see the 2 lines coming from the bottom, to a silver block, then 3 lines coming out to each engine. Hope this helps. I suppose all you would have to do is add ball valves in the 2 lines before the pumps in order to switch between tanks. |
Re: Fuel Tank set up
Thanks...I do have this same setup with the fuel pumps and block, I gues my question is do all three motors pull from both tanks at the same time or just from one tank and then you have to switch to the second tank. The reason I ask is because I have one fuel guage going down as I use the boat, and the other seems to be remaining full. If this is so, is there a valve that would let you switch to the other tank? Thanks for your help

Re: Fuel Tank set up
I dont have a switch, but oddly enough my gauges do the same thing. My port gauge goes down quicker than my starboard. I think it is just the gauges or the senders though. My starboard does go down but slower than the port. I also have bladder tanks, but I dont think that should matter. I always put the same amount of fuel into each tank and have never overflowed so I think it must be the gauges or the sender unit. I am prob. getting new gauges after this season, so we will see what happens next year.
