Cup Holders

Does anyone know the sizes of the cup holders on 33PP? I have 3 white holders that are yellowing and wanted to order new ones before this weekend. The cup holders in the rear are smaller than the front and I haven't had a chance to measure them last weekend. Look at this link, looks like there are 3 sizes.

Re: Cup Holders

I took mine out last week and ran them through the dishwasher to get the scum off the bottom They cleaned up nice. I know that mine were all the same size. Pain in the a$$ to get back in, there very tight with the material around them.

Mine are loose to get in and out and ugly. I want blue to match my guages.

Re: Cup Holders

Want new cupholders? Try www.danamarineproducts.com. They have all kinds and in two sizes...unfortunately for me, but Pantera installed the smaller plastic ones as well, so I'll have to make the holes bigger or look for smaller cup holders. I ordered Powder coated Red ones and they are too big... 3 3/8 are the smallest. My plastic ones are less than 3". Can get those cheap things at Boaters World or West Marine for $1.99.

These boat builders really know how to go all out for the customer. You would think that when you are paying in excess of $100k they could at least put in PC ones at no extra charge. Would have been a whopping $60 more. It will cost me more in time & labor to make the hole bigger. Oh well, welcome to the real world.

Re: Cup Holders

Ron...check Eddie Marine, they had some smaller ones last time I checked, not sure if they'll fit yours though but it's worth a shot.

Thanks Indy, will do.

JROMY and I are expecting to run this summer, heard maybe you will too!! What do you have in the works? Would be real cool. You and yours are always welcome on my boat anytime. I have my little honey going with me lots this summer. Doing day trips. Will keep you posted.

Re: Cup Holders

Yes, most of the backseat armrest drink-cup holders were the inexpensive white plastic 3" size. Hard to push in cause of the vinyl overlapping down into the hole. Don't be afraid to open up the size of the hole to replace them with the next larger size powder-coated version, which were optional. There's plenty of room. If they are a bit loose, silicone can help. The passenger bolster armrest was the same size(3"), but were sometimes the larger coolie-cup size. Ed :)

Re: Cup Holders

Why not powdercoat them? Is this too expensive?

Re: Cup Holders

Gerard, the powdercoated cup holders were simply an option in the later years. Dan just could'nt bring himself to make them standard equipment for some reason. I bought the majority of the coated aluminum cup holders from Rex Marine. RexMar.com They are offered in 3 3/8" & 3 3/4" diameters. Where needed, we would 5200 a plastic 3/8" pipe thread x 3/8" male barb fitting into the existing drain hole in the bottom of the cup holder & push on a length of clear vinyl tubing for a drain. Anywhere the compartment below needed to stay dry. Ed :)

Active...3 3/8" for both the backseat & the passenger bolster. That is, if your boat still has the plastic drink-cup holders now. You will have to open up the size of the holes a bit. Ed :)

Ed,
They have 2 options, Anodized or Powedercoated. The blues are different. Do you have any idea which would match the guage bezels and plate around the trim controls?
Thanks

Hey Andrew. You can usually tell the difference between a powder-coated gauge bezel and an anodized gauge bezel by the glossiness of the finish. The glossier pieces are powder-coated, the duller finished pieces are anodized. If your bezels are powder-coated blue, simply order the powder-coated blue cup holders, theres only one blue that most everyones using. Even if the color is a hair off, it won't be by much & the gauges are far enough away, making it harder to notice a shade-off difference. If it turns out your gauge bezels are anodized, you still have to purchase the same blue powder-coated cup holders, as no one I know of has the aluminum cup-holders that are anodized. They have all gone to powder-coating. Hope this helps.:)

Ed on a side note , does the extension box on a 33 help out at all. I know it helped out on the 38. Thanks

JROMY has the ITS which is 7". His boat rips...so I'm sure there's some benefit to a point.

Mercury ITS

The Merc ITS is nice to go with, if your beginning with a clean sheet of paper. It cleans up the transom, as the steering is intregal. As a retrofit, I would have to think twice & weigh the cost versus added performance. It is good for 3-5 mph on a standard 33 SD, but this depends on other rigging considerations, such as what drives used, X-demension, etc... Personally, I think the the best 33 PP SD I/O's, power/rigging wise, were the 97's & up, in standard pleasure form. They were all in the 80's for speed, with stock MerCruiser power. Just a great all around go-fast offshore boat. How fast do you maniacs need to go!? LOL:crazy:

baja27 07-18-2007 08:36 AM

Thanks for the info ED. Have you ever been in the muscle 33 PP?

"The Love Muscle", as it was called(and painted), when delivered from the factory, is one boat I was never in. The winningest PP ever built, and one we never took advantage of, promotions/advertising wise, due to a dispute at delivery time(what's new). Such a shame. The guys really liked their "little" 33 PP, cause it was such a warhorse, long after they had moved on to their bigger race class involvement.

We carry the anodized blue as well as powder coated. The anodize is a much darker and less glossy blue (anodize is a plating process). We still sell lots of anodized parts.

The powder is a candy bright blue.

Here's a link.

Rex Marine Cup Holders

Yes, I bought the PP cupholders from Rex Marine, among other things...

ActiveFun 07-19-2007 03:20 PM

Thanks guys. I ordered the Powder Coat blue from Rex.

jlew60 07-19-2007 08:23 PM

I changed mine out a couple of weeks ago to the 3 3/8" powder coated ones from Eddie Marine. They look great, and fit a koozie now. I used a rough, curved file to enlarge the holes just enough for a tight fit on the new ones...no silicone needed.
