Default First Time Out Today And Problem...

Motor overheated and I assumed it was an impeller. As we pulled the hose off the water pump we dumped oil out into the bilge. My mechanic sensed an oil cooler problem. Could it be anything else??

Oof - that's a bummer. Now that I have my little steering problem fixed, I seem to have developed a small case of "oil (of some type) in the bilge". Engine oil levels are fine, drive lube is fine, trim levels are fine....I don't know where it is coming from, but it's there. I'll investigate tomorrow!

It seems like it must be the oil cooler. Every suggests its the only way for oil to get into the water pump hose. The motor was down on oil and there is no water in the motor (we think) My marina was pulling the boat down yesterday to get the serial # of the block. There is so many gen #'s that we are not sure which motor I have, although it looks like all of them use the same oil cooler.

Good luck Active. My oil leak appears to be where the line to the remote oil filter connects to the Port motor. I've got my fingers crossed that the starboard motor doesn't have the same leak, because I'll be pulling off headers to get at it.
