38 PowerPlay at Miami

Was curious if anyone who went to the Miami boat show saw the new 38 PowerPlay ? Did they get it done ? Did anyone get a chance to ride in one ? If so what did you think?

We visited the factory in December and they were hopping to have it completed by the show and was curious if it made it and how it looked. When we saw it at the factory they were finishing the cabin liner plug. The boat really looked great; nice lines, excellent amenities and room in the cabin, great engine access etc. Looked to me like they really did their homework.

I didnt go this year, wish I could have made it, but my buddy said the boat was not painted but looked great, when he looked down the side it was as straight as an arrow, Im looking forward into seeing some out in poker runs this year.:D

Very nice boat. They really put lots of pride and attention to detail into the PP38. I have not seen it in the water but the one at the show was a masterpiece and priced with 500EFI's probably the best value/quality combo.

the one i saw had big horsepower...what is a 500 EFI 38 going for?

BAD ASS

I was at the Miami show and got to see the new 38' powerplay and it was HUGE!! I agree it needed some paint, but the guys at Powerplay really have another winner here. It was quite a site to see. It was good to see Dan and John again. I didn't get a chance to get a ride since it was in the convention center, maybe next time.

Hey Dan and John, good luck to you guys on your 38, what does it run with 500 efi's or say some 725 hp mills. Thanks.

:) I hope this attached file made to this thread, there is no paint but you can see the lines on the boat, Robbie

I WAS AT COBRA LAST WEEK AND RANDY SAID THE NEW 38 POWERPLAY RAN 94 MPH WITH TWO COBRA 725 HP ENGINES. THE 500 EFI'S SHOULD PUSH IT CLOSE TO 80!

The boat was overpropped and the engines only turned 5000 rpm's.
Engines should turn 5800 rpm's.. You do the math.

PP RACE is dead on with the info, Dan was out today and had another water leak in the drive and again the props were to big. So one more day to wait for the #'s with the RPM's up were they belong! Robbie

OopSeaDazey 03-03-2002 10:14 PM

ALRIGHTY NOW, the old "props were too big excuse", maybe they should have put more steps in the bottom!

DEFYN GRAVITY 03-03-2002 10:46 PM

OopSeaDazey,
I love people who ATTACK without the FACTS! Cobra 725's, from what I've been told, red line at 6000 RPM. The first day the 38' went out they had 34" props with 1.5 gear ratio. The engines would not spin higher than 5000 RPM and the boat ran just over 90 MPH. Now drop down 2-3" of pitch and now you can get these motors into the torque band where theyshould be. With that RPM the boat should run in the mid to upper 90's.

BUT, OopSeaDazy if you have more accurate information PLEASE feel free to enlighten us? Robbie

PS for what it is worth, the boat is heavyer (SP) than I had hoped for!!!!

DEFY'N GRAVITY when is your boat going to be completed ? When we visited the factory, we were really impressed. Dan and Bosco were great hosts. In fact PP just sent me some pictures of the boat in the water. If you have any, post them. I really like the lines on the boat. Also if you have any pictures of the cabin, those would also be great to see. I've been looking for pictures on the PP website, but nothing.

Saw from your posts on the AT board that you are going with KE power. Let us know how she performs.

We went with the AT 37 AVH, but it was a tough choice.

Haven't seen any pictures of the boat but heard from many people at the show who checked out the 38. It was well received and highly regarded by everyone I spoke with. Powerplay sure does make a nice machine that is well rigged and detailed. I'm sure everyone who orders one will be happy. I can't wait to see a couple on the water this year.

DIESELBRI64 03-11-2002 04:26 PM

I am looking at the 38 and would love to see what kind of speeds and performance you get once it is propped correctly. Please post the results. Is this going to be the first 38 that is done? I have heard it is a really nice looking boat.  :)

I saw the Blue 38 Last Sunday Running Hard off of Jupiter and catching Air coming through the breakers in Jupiter Inlet.
Beautiful boat. Looked like a much better ride than the 38 Huslter right behind it. In Hustler defense, the guy driving it had it trimmed in too far
