Powerplay history
 

Not new to the board but as you can see from my post count that I am basically a lurker b/c I am primarily a fisherman and don't have a go-fast,(yet). Therefore I don't have the wealth of knowledge many here have. It seems that most agree that they were great boats. I have never seen a thread about the Powerplay history and it's demise but people have alluded that it ended in a spectacular "Pantera, Apache" fashion. I would love to hear about the history from some who were there.

Didn’t Powerplay become, or get absorbed by Powerquest?

If any of you are on FB there is a huge PP group on there with a wealth of knowledge..........( Keytime ) on here might chime in if he see this post

2 different Powerplay companies. One changed its name to Powerquest.

Did you read the Sticky? Powerplay (one word) was the original, then Power Play started in MI and got sued by Powerplay and changed their name to Power Quest.

I guess I'll just go straight to Steve Koss and Richie Powers to find out. Seems not many are interested or maybe I have failed to sufficiently articulate my question as it obviously has even upset someone.

well...
the look and shape of the powerplay boats imo are very different than a powerquest... and i prefer the look personally of the powerplay by far! Surprising pq changed the look that much!

X's 2 about reading the history of powerplay from the guy who built the molds and was in charge of lamination, full of pictures.

Thanks guys. I got in touch with Koss and had a great conversation about PP and many other things.

PowerPlay and Powerquest are two completely different companies. Powerquest named their company Powerplay originally not knowing Powerplay was already a name. They had to change their name to powerquest because of this. The boats were never the same.

has anyone experimented with nose cones on the 33 ?

Danny will be happy to tell you hi story, only he’ll leave out the facts of his final arrest and how that plus the hubris of spending 6+ million dollars on something you know nothing about is what bk’d Powerplay

That “name change” was instigated by the Michigan Company who filed the 1st TM®, Danny was hard headed in his youth, wanting that name whose genesis is from hockey. The original Michigan Company was happy to settle the suit THEY initiated for a cash payment from Danny who early in his boat manufacturing ”career” was a bit hard headed with deep pockets (initially) that I do’t believe there’s any dispute the $’s origin. (my bf recalls it as $100,000.00 but admits it was over 40 years ago & his memory may be incorrect but either spot on or slightly off). CC

It’s 72 °F here in London (we don’t use the Fahrenheit system, the u iPhone) and it’s right at noon on my day off. I saw patients for 12 hours yesterday so we’re going clothes and bag shopping for me (hurrah!) in Soho, at Harrods’ and Selfridges. My bae’s the best. Time to sign off, CC

Wish I could help you with the Avatar CC, sorry. My sisters name is CeCe. Would love to see photo's of your boat. Let's see...age 18...thats when he bought the house on the intracoastal. He had his dad buy it for him , with his "proceeds". The stories I could tell about PP business dealings & how he treated people, could fill a book.

CeCe, go to User Control Panel ...if you don't know where it is, Scroll to the top right of the page and next to the Bell icon should be your screen name with a pull down triangle..click that...if nothing there then you can go to the bottom of the page at the right hand corner, there should be a "Forum Jump" window with pull down.....either way one of those two ways will get you to the Control Panel. From the Control Panel page look to the left hand side and look for "Settings and Options" and under there click "Edit Avatar".
Then go to the bottom of the choices and look for "Use Custom" option and highlight the button. Then click the "Browse" button to look through your computer for the Picture you want to use. Just make sure its no bigger then 150x150 pixels or 11.7KB (which ever is smaller)....
