Back in the family!

Our long boat search is finally over - today I brought home our new boat, a 1996 290 Enticer. I have to say I'm amazed at how much bigger it seems than our old 280. Maybe its just my memory, but the 290 seems like it is 5 feet longer and taller than the 280.

Should run a respectable 65 or so with 454 LX's - 330 hp at the prop, the good MPI fuel injection like the Mags, but cast internals. Only offered in 96 and 97, from what I understand, then Merc brought in the cheaper GM EFI on the non-mag motors.

The exterior is absolutely spotless. Cabin and cockpit are in good shape, just some wear from being 9 years old. A thorough cleaning and some "bling" from Trick Marine will really make her ours.

Pics on the General forum, I'll post more as I take them...

The instrument panel is begging to be redone. The panels themselves have some kind of grayish check pattern on them - they will get yanked and either painted or replaced with something else. Here's the "plan" (subject to change, of course!):
  • Redo instrument panels in white with matching red and purple stripes (match the main graphics on the boat)
  • New Livorsi gauges (good-bye, Faria!) with red bezels
  • Red Dino steering wheel from Trick Marine
  • Add drive and tab trim to the throttles
  • Maybe new Victory tabs from Martini boat - use the same pump etc as the existing tabs so they cost a hell of a lot less than K-planes - we'll see
  • reupholster at least part of the seats, maybe in red - jury is still out on this one
  • New red lay-in carpet
  • Maybe new carpet in the cabin, it has some stains. Unfortunately, it's glued down and looks like it will be a bee-yotch to get out
  • Hydraulic steering if I can find the doh-ray-me...
