1999 Volvo DXP problem - any help?
 

I just recently purchased a 1999 270 Laser with a Volvo 7.4 Gsi (454 mag). This boat also has a Volvo Dou--Prop system. I have since had A LOT of problems with the postioning of the water intake. It is place directly on the bottom of the lower unit. It continues to suck up sand and plug up the cooling system. I know of one other person who had this problem. ( Had to have engine flushed 8 times) He too had the same year of the 270 with the same Volvo set up. Does any one know of any solution to this issue. Or anyone to contract about it.

We are very happy with our new Powerquest other than this problem. We really want to keep it, but this is a very big problem.

Simple solutions. 1. install a sea-strainer.
Or 2. install an offshore water pickup.
Both will solve your problem.
