Bought the Avenger

Well folks we did it. Brought home a 2001 Avenger set up with lots of creature comforts and 575sci's with super chillers, labbed Merc five blade props and a blueprinted bottom. She does 88.7 GPS and runs rock solid with the trim at at 7.5 and no tab. Not sure I will keep the scoops, they look cool but the sound is LOUD
Bill R, thanks for the info on the theromostat housing, I plan to check it out .
Hope we get a decent Memorial day weekend so I can get out and play. :drink: :D :evilb: YES! YES! YES!

Still have the Viper, it is listed with a broker and sits in his showroom. If anyone is looking for a clean boat that is set up for overnights and speed they may want to give it a look. The broker will take trades.

Relative to our new toy I attached a pic. This form won't accept more than one pic per message so I will send others later.

We will be down to LOTO for the shootout, any others going?

OK MAC, HERE IS A SHOT OF THE BIG BOYS.

PWRQUST I may be trading some labor for the scoops. The guy doing the work( removel of the chillers and scoops ) seems to want them, if that changes I will let you know.
I will let you know. There is allot of noise that comes out of the scoops.

I was told by some of the folks at PQ that this was there brochure and add boat in 2001.

Re: Bought the Avenger

Why on earth would you remove the chillers???

Re: Bought the Avenger

What is the overall length (tongue to prop) of the Avenger on a trailer? I'm guessing about 44 feet but an actual dimension would be appreciated. I'm going to build an outbuilding on my property and I need to know length. I plan on eventually getting an Avenger and want to plan accordingly. Thanks!

Re: Bought the Avenger

Depending on your trailer, I just walked mine off last week, I think it was 43 feet. If you build atleast 45 feet deep you should be fine, or 50 feet if you want to have room behind the boat to work on the transom area.

Brian, I am assuming that in order to remove the scoops, the chillers would need to come off to lower the overall height of the motors so that the hatch can still close .

PWRQWST 07-07-2005 10:28 AM

Re: Bought the Avenger

Length on mine is 45' so I would go at least 80' long :D that way you dont have to unhook your rig.
The chillers have to come off so the hatch will close, mine has blowers but no scoops, Yet :evilb: and they cut out some of the hatch for the air cleaners.

Re: Bought the Avenger

Yeah it would be great to have the entire package hooked up and ready to go. :D Unfortunately I'm limited to 1288 square feet. I was thinking 28 x 46. I could go a little longer but then I'm a little narrower than I want. I think I will be safe with the original direction. Thanks MACTONITE and PWRQWST for the measurements.

My Avenger sits in a 40x48 w/14'walls. There is enough room to work on the drives and still walk around the front of the trailer. It sits on a manning trailer it does not have rear gate to protect the drives so that buys you a little room. It will be 40x60 next time.

Re: Bought the Avenger

My Avenger sits in a garage 48x105 long. There is plenty of room for the race car and two Monte Carlo show cars along with two John Deere tractors and a gator. Plus all the toys of the two grandsons. This plus my air condition office with a wet bar so when I get tried washing and waxing all my toys I can take a nap. You can never have a big enough garage to hold all your toys. First year we built it we have my brother race boat in there also. Still had room to wash the vette during the winter.

Venom, you going to Smoke On The Water?

The 29 has been a joy, 39 different days of use and have only had to replace the impellers. Already thinking a 34 with 500's could be in my future. Just spent the afternoon detailing the trailer, always something to clean........

Seems like you should be detailing your lift, not your trailer :evilb:

LOTO was sunny and hot all week. We had a great time. I just need a few days to catch up on my rest :D

performancemary,

How does the 380 compare to the 340? Is the 380 huge compared to the 340? does it handle the same etc.

Thanks

Performancemary, got the email, thanks! I would love to slide into your 34 (even have my 29 sold if I wanted too) but I gotta get the little women a new house first

We have discussed your ride a few times at our local lake, I was trying to get it sold for you...

I wouldn't mind being in that 34 with PWRQWST shrinking in my rearview.......... :evilb:

Re: Bought the Avenger

Wally, I went to Smoke and then spent some time in Seattle.

Anyway, which impeller did you have to replace? What happened? The port one was new.

I really miss that boat. I'm gonna bypass the viper and shoot for a 380 hence my length questions.

I've read perfectmix's speed numbers with twin 500's and I'm guessing twin 502's will be running low 60's? Anyone know? I think the 496 HO's run pretty good but not sure. I have read, here, that the best setup is running the blue juice, who can argue? But I have found some super clean 380's with 502's and just wonder if that's a good setup. My old boat would do almost 70 GPS and don't want to go backward for the extra size. If I could run the same speed and get the extra length I think that will be fine.

I think this is my longest post so sorry to ramble. I've been gone for a while and just got back to a PC.
