I know that there has been lots of prop discussions before and I hope I am not rehashing things...but here goes: I have some friends that are fairly knowledgable about boats. They think my 30P Bravo props are a little big for my set up which is 300 Revenge w/ stock Mag HOs. I am turning about 4800 rpm max. They are suggesting labbed 28 Bravos. Any thoughts? I am able to run about 78-80 mph now. Would changing props be worth the expense? I can find a set (2) 28's for about $1200 bucks.

Are the 30's labbed? If not, labbing them should get you in the 5000 RPM range. You'll gain top end but lose a little midrange. Going with stock 28 props should give you 5000 rpms and better hole shot and maybe the same or a little better top end. I would try a set of 28's before buying. Talk to Julie or Matt at Throttle-up, they'll steer you in the right direction. That is a sweet looking boat you have! :)

I second what Gary C said. Get a pair from TU and try them before you spend the bucks. I too am surprised you are able to spin the 30's...assuming they are stock. If so, you will be on the rev limiter with labbed 28's and you will loose precious cruise speed to boot. Stock 28's will gain you a couple hundred rpm and better hole shot, but I bet the top end is the same.

Is the 4800 in cool spring air or summer heat? You may need to go down to 28's once the triple H's gets here.

Are there any places (business) that let you try props (rent ,return,borrow)if your not sure what set to get?

www.bblades.com may be doing the same. Call both and see what they can do for you.

This past weekend, I was checked several times and max rpm was about 4600 to 4700. I have a friend with labbed 30s and 28s and one of these days we are going to test them both. :chick:

I think Labing the 30's would be the correct move. We have a set of 30's Labbed for testing. The bad news is there out now with 2 more customers in line to test them. Once they are back, if you are interested, we would be more than happy to send them to you.

You could save a few bucks and send the props out to Houston prop. Tell him how much RPM you want to gain and he can modify your exixting props. He can also add some cupping and releave the back edge this will give you more speed. It costs about $300 a prop if you also want them polished.
