Re: 26 Legend Prop Question???
At about 61 and above with it trimmed out I start to experience chine walk from time to time. Easing back on the throttle till it clears has been one solution. But if you just hold it WOT, it will clear up if the conditions aren't too bad.

Re: 26 Legend Prop Question???
Pqconquest,
My set-up is stock, except for the Stainless Marine exhaust and the K&N flame arrester. I picked up about 200 rpm's with the K&N and exhaust. That is why I had my prop repitched. Before the ad-ons I would run 5050 with the 21. So I'm pretty close to a stock 385 EFI with my "stock" 350 HP Mag. You do have to fly the boat a little loose to get that max speed. I do get a real slight chine walk. I've only aired it out a few times, as the wife isn't into going fast. Now, if you add exhaust and flame arrester and redo the computer, you could probably make your 23 pitch hit 5000 and pick up some top end. It's up to you to decide if it is worth the 2-3K or so for 2 mph top end. I spent about 2K+ for 2mph. It is a sickness you know:) |
Re: 26 Legend Prop Question???
Gary, I'm with you on the 2K a waste.I've been there and done that before. If I could pick up a prop that would get me a couple more no problem. I'm thinking maybe I'll look on ebay.

Re: 26 Legend Prop Question???
I really spent the money for the exhaust because I boat in salt. I do not like the stock wet manifold riser joint. A little corosion, and bang, there goes the motor. The increase in speed was a surprise actually. Try finding a 21 Mirage Plus and have it redone by Throttle-up. They only charged me about 100 bucks for the repitch and cleaning up the nicks and a polish. The prop looked like new when I got it back.

Re: 26 Legend Prop Question???
I agree on the prop. Funny thing my last PQ I had a 22 Mirage that I picked up on ebay for $100 it was like new. Someone had just had it re-worked to a 22p. There's a 21 blue printed plus on ebay now but I think the 22 is the way to go.

Re: 26 Legend Prop Question???
O.K. I talked with Mark at PQ today and he said all the new 26's are coming stock with 22 or 24p Bravo 1 props. Just wondering if anyone on the board is turning one and how you like it???

Re: 26 Legend Prop Question???
I tried one a 2 years ago in Lake George. It was a 24 Bravo 1. I liked the way the boat handled with it. The left lean from motor torque was pretty much eliminated. It was a 24 which I knew was too big, but that's what this guy had. I was suprised that the boat popped up on plane pretty good. If I remember correctly I could only turn it 4450. I figured a 22 would be just about right. This was before I did the exhaust and K&N. But I decided to do that stuff and just redo my old prop. I think a 22 would work good on your boat. Midrange power will be better than the Mirage, but the top end will be about 1-2 mph slower.I would guess your rpm's to be about 4900.
