Clinton Lake Speed Limit ?

Hey guys what's the word around town about this? This is the first I've heard of it. I don't really disagree with the night speed limits, but even at the lakes that have them accidents happen all the time.

Here's the Pantagraph article from today's wipe:

A night time speed limit doesn't sound like a bad idea. A daytime speed limit would probably move our boat to Shelbyville.

Unless the speed limit was 65mph, then it would be OK until we find more horsepower. :D

I have spent about 10 nights at the lake this year, have not really witnessed a "speed" problem at night. Given the circumstances of the accident, I don't think it would have mattered anyway.

The perch jerkers will end up fighting that one if the county gets serious about it. They haul azz every where they go.......

There are speed limits on the road and that doesn't stop people from speeding and ending up in accidents caused by excessive speed. You cannot say a speed limit after dark would have prevented this accident. There is already a speed limit on the lake. I believe it is 45 MPH. I have yet to see it enforced. The perch jerkers are the biggest offenders.

It'll be interesting to see what comes of this. I agree no matter what the speed limit was the dude would've crashed anyway. Even at the usual 30 mph night limit it would've done some damage.

I,ll believe it when I see someone get a ticket. They,ve got bigger problems.

Although a night time speed limit is not a bad idea, I don't think it will change anything.

Where the heck has Rich been? Haven't heard from him for awhile.

I'm back had computer trouble and just got it hooked back up.

This guy lost his dad and that sucks but you can tell that he is not a boater, he would like to see a no wake zone at night, not realistic. That means if someone is killed on the road at night we should all drive a idle on the highway, and that is not even smart. A speed limit at night like LOTO has is fine 30 MPH at night would work for most people, even me :D
A speed limit during the day would make it a lot more difficult to draw people to our lake to visit. That means the perch jerkers, the powerboaters and I hate to say it but even the jet ski's. Springfield Il has a 30 MPH all the time and I have never been there and I dont believe they have alot of powerboatrs over there. This would hurt the local biz a lot just think about how much fuel we burn going fast as compared to running slow. I also think that if this was to happen it would run alot of us out of the area. I am planning on going to LOTO within the next three years yes, but there are alot of people who want to stay at Clinton and I dont believe they would if this was the case. I see that there is anouther meeting in Oct so I will try to find out when it is and let you know, hopefully I can get a couple of you there to go with myself, and let them know how we feel.

Rich.

Got to meet with the electrician at LOTO Friday morning. So we are hanging out with TK on his formula. We probably will increase the this season's hours by 25% if we run much this weekend.
