Powerquest340, its not so much that I (maybe We) don't believe you, We all have been waiting for something. But Nothing.

But if you notice this thread started a few years ago. These guys have been waiting a long time. I've only been following it for the last year? as I 'm still new here. Maybe the new owner had been banned by OSO and he's snubbin us :party-smiley-004:

For me it's really a moot point as I'll never be able to buy a new one anyway. I just can't bring myself to do it.

A. new 340-$200K
B. used 340 '02 w/250hrs for under $100k
C. new 280 or 300 for under $100k

Ya know, it just came to me. some body call and get a quote on a new 380. tell em you're interested and just want to know if PQ should/could be on your list of possible choices. See what they say. What's the current lead time for one. If they're building boats, how does one go about getting one?

ShawnD Just keep in mind that we get a fair amount of used PQ inventory from those people moving up and buying new.

But I'm right there with you. Hard to justify the cost of new when there's simply so many good deals on used. Specially now days.

I agree, we need the feedstock for the used market.

I think PowerQuest brought a balance to the industry of performance & pleasure.

They aren't in full production. You can choose not to believe what I say, but I have talked alot with the new owner and toured the factory (2 weeks ago). They are not advertising, but are having people overseas ask them to build boats. That said, they are not building very many. They arent going into production yet, because they are working on some new designs. They don't want to start producing boats until they have the new models perfected. I Can't blame them.

Also, he said that they are waiting because they are prepping to go into full production. The old owners left the business in quite a mess.

In other words they are not producing boats yet - and if they are not producting boats - they aren't selling boats, over seas or anywhere else.

Thats what they told me months ago.

I live 3/4 of a mile from the plant and drive by a lot. There were a couple partially built when they got the business. Last I talked to Bob, those were the only couple he mentioned letting out the doors. They installed a new rub-rail on a Formula for a friend of mine not that long ago and did an awesome job of it too!

PQ Factory
 

I had the opportunity to get a factory tour and have lunch with Phil Hall and Matt Seyffert this past Saturday. I think people will be blown away when PQ relaunches. I know I was. They are not currently building any production boats but rather improving the current boat's construction. If you have an opportunity to get to the factory and see for yourself then take it. Phil and Matt spent over five hours with me and another friend and answered every question we asked as well as what they were doing and why.

Some highlights:
1. Increased strength 40% while reducing weight 35%.
2. Hull AND deck are vacuum bagged. PQ is the only boat company to vacuum bag the deck, according to Phil anyone else who says they are also vacuum bagging the deck isn't on the up-and-up.
3. They are producing a 38 for the February 2009 Powerboat performance trials. The boat will have a metallic orange theme. It looks pretty cool.
4. PQ holds a patent on a new type of triaxial glass. Increased strength while reducing weight.
5. The previously built PQ boats were well built as you can attest but these new models will be much stronger. Phil's attention to detail like the balsa coring tabbing is first class.
6. He is an electrical engineer so the wiring will no longer look like a bird's nest and will have three main busses.
7. Wood has been removed from the boat and replaced with fiberglass.
8. The windshield has been improved in looks and performance (it looks more substantial).
9. The vacuflush system is being replaced with a better system, I can't recall the name but it uses a bladder system like how tow boats use for wakeboarding.
10. PQ will be making every model it previously produced, from 22' to 38'. All the improvements I saw on the 38' will be across the board, hull, deck, hardware etc.

I will not be able to answer all of your questions but I can tell you they encourage you to call and/ or visit them and provide your input. Phil says he is averaging 200,000 hits a month on the website and acknowledges that it is not up to date. It will be updated when he gets into production. It looks like that may happen next year. He is encouraged by the support and the following. He also stated that if PQ was still producing boats at the time he acquired the company he would have continued producing the boats and all the work he is currently doing on the improvements would have been going on in the background. Since PQ was not producing boats he felt this was an opportunity to improve on them before relaunching the company. Like I said the boat I saw being built for February will be a knockout and will impress.
