Bolster Foot Rails
My 26 did not come with the stainless foot rails and I was thinking of adding them. Main reason is the bolsters seem to sit to far back from the steering wheel and when your driving you have to lean back into the seat which is very uncomfortable on your ankles and feet. Just wondering if these rails are of any real use?? If so are they through bolted or just screwed into the glass?

I put them on my 260. I first just did the passenger side for the wife and it really made a difference for her comfort. I then did my side the following year and really liked the way it felt when you were sitting. I through bolted them with aluminum backing plates. I wouldn't just screw them in the fiberglass. I got them from a Powerquest dealer. They were a little pricey at 100 bucks or so each.

Re: Bolster Foot Rails
Gary, How did you bolt them in where the door slide's into the pocket in front of the steering wheel?? By the way congrats on selling the boat. Somebody got a great deal!

Re: Bolster Foot Rails
I ordered the passenger side when I ordered the boat,
screwed into the glass not backed by anything, but so far they are holding up fine. |
Re: Bolster Foot Rails
Thanks on the congrats:) You'll see that the foot rest comes close enough to the edge that you can just reach in and put the plate in and catch the nuts. It was a little tricky but it can be done. Plus, I don't have forearms like Popeye:) On the ends you remove the speakers and just reach in. And the passenger is in the hanging locker. I pulled back the carpet and used a piece of wood and a backing plate and put the carpet back over it.
