Re: Started the stereo upgrade in the 290
I have upgraded the alternators to 110amp marine 1 wires, and am going with a total of 8 batteries for power. 4 for the stereo, 2 for the house and 1 for each motor.
I am going with a Rockford marine headunit and have added 2 wired remotes, 2 x Rockford 801s Amps for the subs, 1 x Rockford 801x for the cockpit speakers and 1 x Linear Power 652i for the cabin. The cockpit speakers consist of 4 pairs of Infintity Marine 6.5 coaxs, 2 pairs of infinty coaks in custom boxes that attach to the seta pedestal, 1 pair MB quart 6.5 components up by the driver and passenger and a pair of Rockford 6x9s in the cabin. I have built a fiiberglass reinforced sub box that will go under the back seat and it will hold 4 x Alpine Type-R 12" subs in aported configuration. It is my goal for this stereo to look as if it was installed by the factory, and so far I think I have come pretty close to achieveing that goal. As always, comment,s critique and suggestions are welcome. As I get more done (it is 20 degrees here today) I will post more pictures Thanks Christian |

Re: Started the stereo upgrade in the 290
Dayum, that thing should rock....
8 batteries, I couldn't get past all the weight being added. I got a few on the lake I can eek by or follow close behind, I can't afford to go backwards in the speed dept  I am running a watered down setup. 10" sub in the closet, 400 watt bazooka amp, alpine head unit, upgraded 6.5" under the rear seat. That said, I am waffling on adding another amp, another sub, and 2 - 6.5 for the driver/passenger. |

The scary thing is, I have probably 100lbs in wiring :evilb:

Re: Started the stereo upgrade in the 290
Just curious are all of you running marine grade speakers?? My originals were standard car speakers and I just purchased 4 new Audiobahn 6.5 to replace the originals. I figured the originals lasted 8 years these should be fine as well as the grills were much nicer looking as well as speaker selection was greater.

Re: Started the stereo upgrade in the 290
I am running marine speakers primarially for the cosmetic reason. I like the clean white on white look I get from the marine speakers. As long as they are a real speaker (not a flea market special) you should be fine with them in a boat.
