New Gps????
I Am Looking To Get A Dash Mount Gps. It Does Not Have To Color. I Want It To Show A Map And How Fast I Am Going. We Go To Lake Powell On Trips And If Anyone Has Ever Seen This Lake You Would Know Why I Need A Map.
Any Ideas On The Best One For Money? I Would Like To Stay Under $500 |
Re: New Gps????
Where are you thinking about mounting it? Those 280 dashes are pretty filled up. I do not care for the mounted type, drilling holes, mounting brackets etc...maybe a portable one?

I put a Garmin 182c in last year and really like it. it has the blue chip so you can change maps, I think it cost about 385, I think. They also make a black and white that is a bit cheeper.
About tho only place that was good to mount was over tab/trim indactors. |

If you move your steeing wheel to a more comfortable position it opens up another area that has worked quite well for me. Reference pic. Unit is a Raymarine color GPS chart Plotter that is mounted sunken into dash area.

Re: New Gps????
For Powell forget the nautical charts, get the
Garmin 100k topos. And do yourself a favor and get a color unit (276 or 376 are nice). We use a GPS 182C and the Garmin topos for all southwest inland lakes. They have no marine specific maps for those lakes. Pesky Varmint |

Hey Marc, is that your GPS and sat antenna above your tab/trim guage? |
