Halon system
How do I go about checking the haylon system on my boat?
I looked at the bottle yesterday and there is no guage like on a regular fire extingusher. |

There is a light on the dash that will illuminate through the pressure switch and let you know if it is operational. Guess you have been away from the boat too long and forgot about it or never paid attention to it :p |

I just ran into this same problem on my boat.Its a 1991 and the light was on so I didn't think there was an issue.When I removed the unit to paint my bilge this winter it was empty!!!!When I ordered a new one it came with a pressure guage on it so you could check the internal pressure.The light only tells you the heat bulb is in tack and that it didn't go off.Mine leaked from the fitting below the heat valve assembly.The tech from where I ordered my new one said the older units should be removed twice a year and weighted.The weight is stamped on the side of each bottle.It needs to be replaced even if it a few ounces off.
