Stearing Wheel
 

OK Guys, need some advice
I have a 2001 38 wirh the standard Momo wheel. I bought a nice Dino not realizing it has a slightly different bolt pattern. Close but not exact. Should I just drill new holes in the hub or what?

Get yourself a new anodized color coded hub that is slightly longer than stock with the dino bolt pattern for about 50 bucks. The wheel will be further back so you can stand straight up a the helm. Eddie marine, livorsi and others have em. I am sure other members will let you know if I am "steering" you in the wrong direction.

I bought a dino as well and used the off center holes for now until I can find what I want to do.Just make sure you put the screws in all at the smae time and go around the wheel to get there, that way you do not get it in a bind.

worked for me, but I like the adaptor idea, I may have to try that out.

A 5" extension will allow you to stand erect at the helm instead of hunched over like a neanderthal. Only problem being that if your waistline not 32" you have to inhale deeply to get beween the wheeland seat. Enter the $1200 Zeiger tilt wheel. I think a diet is cheaper.

The extension looks cool but I have the factory tilt wheel and don't want to loose it so may have to drill what ever holes are needed to make the Dino fit in the factory hub.

You won't loose the tilt with the extension. I just did the same thing and added a 4" anodized hub from trick. I think I paid $70 for with the center cap. Mig is right it will bring the wheel back in a much more comfortable position. Never understood why PQ mounted their bolster so far back from the helm. Simply remove the old hub (you may need a puller) and bolt the new one on. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll take a picture and post it.

I think my adapter was a lot less than 5"

BTW do you really use the Tilt Helm? I was happy to scrap my old sloppy cable helm 7� of play is unacceptable for a boat!

I love my tilt helm, but it is full hydraulic :evilb:

They make those adapters in several different sizes. I rather like my tilt steering setup. Works great if one of the kids wan't slide in front of me and get in a little supervised seat time. Best of all it gets the wheel a little closer to me while in the standing possession. Due to the bolsters seem to mounted a little to far back.
